After missing the last two matches under Peterborough's new coach, Ryan has recovered from his injury and is expected to return vs. Oxford this weekend:

"Ryan Tafazolli is fully fit after missing the last two matches with a hamstring problem."

            https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/...lace-1-8412128

"Ryan Tafazolli could be in line for a recall to Peterborough's starting line-up as he nears full match fitness after hamstring trouble. The defender took a seat on the bench for Tuesday's 1-0 win at Bury, coming on as a late substitute."

*Peterborough has won two in a row with their new coach, Steve Evans.
*They have now reached 6th in the standings, the last playoff spot, with ten matches remaining.

That's incorrect. Evans joined Mansfield after Tafazolli had already signed for Peterborough.

Adam Murray was Tafazollis manager throughout his stint at Mansfield.

Evans usually does a hatchet job at any team he manages. Hopefully he rates Tafazolli as high as his managers in the past.

I don't expect him to get a call up until after the world cup. He might join a camp or two and have an outside chance of getting in the Asian Cup squad, if Hosseini retires. I'm sure CQ will be testing every centreback he can.

Ryan expected to return to the starting lineup for the weekend match vs. Bristol Rovers:

"Ryan Tafazolli is fit again and has been chomping at the bit to get back in the side but has had to make do with a place on the substitutes bench for the last two matches. He will now come back into the starting line-up alongside former Newcastle United captain Steven Taylor who has been a rock in the defence for Posh this season."

                    Peterborough United 1:1 Bristol Rovers:

*Ryan returned to the starting lineup after returning from a hamstring injury.
*He was injured again shortly after kick-off and was subbed off.

"Evans made six changes to his starting line-up following last weekend’s defeat at Oxford. He will probably have to make changes again for the big game at fourth-placed Rotherham on Good Friday as centre-back Ryan Tafazolli lasted just five minutes on his return from a hamstring injury."

""Losing Ryan Tafazolli to injury so early on was a blow because we had to change the defence around. He will be assessed and we will see what the medical people say about that.”"

                      Peterborough United 1:1 Rotherham United

*Ryan started the match and was subbed off on the 70th min.
*Ryan received a rating of 8 by the Peterborough Times.

"But Posh secured this valuable 1-1 League One draw thanks to a top defensive effort led by centre-backs Ryan Tafazolli and Steven Taylor, and young goalkeeper Conor O’Malley.

Ryan Tafazolli: Excellent display considering he can’t be fully fit. Made a couple of vital interventions in the first-half when aerially dominant. Tired and substituted towards the end after he was fortunate to escape a second yellow card 8"

Ryan was re-injured after making his comeback couple of weeks ago. Appears he has a recurring hamstring injury which is keeping him sidelines. Sky states he will most likely miss the remaining 3 club matches this season:

"Ryan Tafazolli appears unlikely to play again this term due to a hamstring issue."

                        http://www.skysports.com/football/sh...preview/375601

Three matches left for Peterborough. Low chance they will make the final playoff spot (6th) even if they win all remaining games.

Peterborough Today released their "Retain list" for the next season. Ryan has been tipped to stay in order for them to rebuild their defensive line around him:

                          "RYAN TAFAZOLLI:
                          *Posh apps: 45 (1)
                          *Posh goals: 3
                          *Contract expires: 2019

Swanny says: He’s a Championship-standard centre-back. Strong in the air, comfortable in possession and cool under pressure. Negotiations to extend his contract should already have started. The defence should be built around him."

Dametoon garm, I could never imagine Tafazolli playing for TM as verbal communication is more important for goalkeepers/defender than for midfielders and forwards and we have seen talented players like Beitashour, Davari etc... struggle to get any look-in because of this, let alone a 26-year-old League One player.

But I have to respect you guys for following him. Good to see the extent of passion for TM even for a player who will never play for us in a competitive match.

Well to be fair hes still relatively young for a center back (25 right?), and if you really followed him, you would know he's been improving heavily.

He is said to be a CB of Championship level caliber, which is a relatively solid league.

Another thing that makes me continue follow Tafazolli is his passion for team melli. This dude actually wants to play for Iran and has been working his butt off to do so!

If he improves his agility, footwork, and grow as a defender, his future is very bright. This guy has a world class heading ability. Lets not forget the amount of goals he's scored for his team.. as a center back!

While he's definitely not in the picture anymore for this World Cup, I hope he gets the chance to form the new CB duo with Pouraliganji once Hosseini retired this summer or perhaps the Asian Cup. With his huge size and good heading ability he is for sure decent enough against AFC opponents.

Point is that he's not young anymore (turning 27 in September) and it will be basically now or never for him if he ever wants to play for Team Melli.
