      Wigan 0:0 Peterborough United

*Ryan was mentioned as one of the best Peterborough players on the pitch in a great defensive display vs. the best club in the league.
*Ryan received an 8.5 rating by the Peterborough Times

"Steven Taylor and Ryan Tafazolli were outstanding at centre-back, but this was a very solid all-round team effort to make it four points from two games this seasin against the best team in the division.
Ryan Tafazolli: The big centre-back is enjoying a fine run of form. Commanding here and he is becoming very hard to pass on the deck. Impressive 8.5"

We saw what happened with the Pouraliganji-Ansari experiment, they were so disorganised against Syria. Cheshmi-Pouraliganji against Panama also. There has to be a good mix of strength and pace at the back. Hosseini is a leader, that’s why he works well with Pouraliganji. We need Tafazolli for that physical player.
common man, PAG is simply a higher class of footballer/defender than Ryan..!! probably even Cheshmi..? although he is also bit kond and slow in transition..!
PAG is exactly the type of a Jangandeh player that suit CQ's adapted defensive, high pressing tactics beautifully and he is equally an offensive header threat off of set-pieces and he has the wheels to get back to his defensive duties quickly after pushing up in the attack ..!!
Ryan is a towering and strong figure but certainly more of Stay-home CB that coulda possibly come useful for us @ WC had we been grouped with some Eastern European Nare-khar strong sides who woulda otherwise over-powered the likes of PAG and/or Cheshmi the way Zalatan did when we played the swedes a few years back ..!

Don't get me wrong, I really like Pouraliganji. He's a brilliant ball playing centre back. He should definitely start at the world cup, there's no doubt about that.

I believe we will need a player in the last 10 minutes to deal with long balls for Morata, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andre Silva if we are drawing or winning the games against Spain and Portugal. That's why I think Tafazolli can be very useful, I can't see Andre Silva and Morata out jumping Tafazolli. Ronaldo could because he's a freak.

Hosseini, Pouraliganji, Montazeri will most probably be in the final squad.

Majid Hosseini, Cheshmi and Ansari are the only others who could be number 4.

"Tafazolli’s pride in Peterborough United’s defensive form

In-form Peterborough United centre-back Ryan Tafazolli is thrilled with his side’s recent defensive record.

A 3-0 League One success over Oldham at the ABAX Stadium yesterday (January 20) made it three clean sheets in a row for Posh for the first time in just over four years. Posh drew 0-0 at Luton and at Wigan before yesterday’s win, one that pushed them up a place to eighth in League One.

Posh have conceded just three goals in their last seven competitive outings. “Keeping clean sheets is absolutely crucial because with the attacking quality we have in the side, we will always score,” Tafazolli stated. “The defence takes great pride in a clean sheet so to have three in a row is very pleasing. “We’ve shown a lot of organisation and discipline in recent games. The back four and goalkeeper have done well and so has Anthony Grant in front of us. He’s in unbelievable form.

“Our job is to make sure we have a platform to go on and win games and we’ve done that. We haven’t let in more than one goal in a game for a while (Fleetwood, away, December 16, nine games ago). “Oldham had a lot of the ball at times, but that’s going to happen in a game. No team dominates for 100 per cent of a match these days, buy we kept our concentration and stayed focused.

“We don’t have a League One match for two weeks now so we had to win this one to make sure we stayed in touch at the top. We will have to win a lot of games before the end of the season to get into the top six, but we can do it. “We’ve added two high quality players to the squad in Joe Ward and George Cooper which will help. We’re confident.” Posh are three points behind sixth-placed Charlton who occupy the final play-off spot. Posh are next in League One action at home to struggling Southend on February 3."

it will be huge, in terms of him attaining his first TM Call-up too..! playing in a 3rd division currently is a huge stumbling block in his way on that front.
lets hope it goes through..! he has worked pretty hard for it and well deserve it, not so sure PeteB will be easy to appea$e to give their blessing to this move though..!!?
how much is left on his current contract .? lets hope he has put in a release clause which allows him to have more say on such matters.

I believe he signed a 3 year deal in 2016. So his contract expires in 2019. Having one more year left, could tempt Peterborough to cash in. Might wait to the summer for bigger offers and teams. Hull sit 21st in the table, only out the bottom three on goal difference. Nigel Atkins is the coach there.

i think Pete will cash in then..?? unless low-balled..!!
and he should take the chance although a bit risky and could be back in League 1 next year again..!!

Fact remains that Hull is club with rich history in upper echelons of english football and his chances of progress as a football is far higher there than PB for sure regardless..!

Hulls biggest issue has been their defence. If he goes there, maybe he can solve that and keep them up. Would certainly put pressure on Queiroz to consider him for the WC

Would have huge implications on his potential TM call up if he moves to the championship and he knows it too. He knows he needs to play at championship level at minimum to be invited. I just wonder if his loyalty to his club/guaranteed playing time right now will stop him from moving. Would be very good news I want to see him get a shot with TM in our up coming friendlies although I realize it’s unlikely. Time will tell!

Checktrade Trophy QF's: Lincoln City 4:2 Peterborough United:

*Ryan started the match and played the full 90+ mins.
*Peterborough conceded 2 goals in extra time
*He received a rating of 6.5

"Ryan Tafazolli: His battle with Matt Rhead was a bruising affair and not for the faint-hearted. The in-form Posh centre-back held his own, but he probably missed the calming influence of his usual defensive partner 6.5"
