we have been missing good forwards, now we have azmoun and gucci, and i agree taremi has not scored against any good team, why gucci scored in all tournements for iran and azmoun is a great player. we had good forwards like daei and hashemian, but after them we had poor forwards, hence we played with 1 striker in 2014 world cup. however now we have better options and is good news for tm

      I dont get it.

I dont know but in my view, "effective" may ot necessarily equal to "numbers".
therefore while X may have a arge number, the effect and impact of a player may not be reflected in those numbers.
for example a striker may have higher STATS because he's scored more goals against low quality teams, while another may have scored less, but against higher quality opposition and have had more impact.

therefore while I agree Azmoun has done extremely well, especially given his age, RGN has had far more IMPACT and EFFECT on TM's fortunes.
others have come and gone or dipped. But the above two stand out imo. And I still give RGN an edge, since the question is on the player's impact and effect and not merely "numbers"
i agree, REZA have scored in qualifiers , asian cup and world cup, even ali daei didnt do that, gucci and azmoun would be a good game for tm, we can terorise defense and also defend well

Years ago when I had some spare time, before Azmoun, Taremi and even RGN were playing for TM, I actually looked at the number of goals scored per minutes played and not games played (because 4 minutes playing time also counts as a "game") of our forwards in the last 20 years or so, and there were some surprises I must say. For example, Reza Enayati was even in the top 5 (or close to it) if I remember correctly! :-/

Unfortunately I can not find back the document right now, but I'll try harder when I have some time left.

Farshade Aghaye Gol! He was my coach in his summer camp right before he retired, he took us all to his final match which was the derby and he almost scored a sexy free kick that Gholampour just saved. One of the best strikers and nicest men I ever met
