Khob rast mige dige??!!! It's not that he's complaining about us not having players in the top 5 leagues! It's more about some of the members in this forum being so excited when our players play well in the Russian and Greek leagues, it's as if they scored against Barcelona! I've even read comments like: "yes.... let Azmoun play against Bayern Munich and he will destroy them"! I mean, are you kidding me?

When Iran was playing against Argentina in the WC2014, I was watching the game with 2 Swedish friends of mine. While Iran was playing well I was telling them how our players would get European contracts left and right after this game. Today, if my friends would ask me, so what happened? Did they get European contracts? I'd say, they did.

    -So where?
-Well.... we have a player in the Dutch league. it's the same guy who played in the Dutch league in the WC but now he plays in a better team.
    -Ok. Who else?
-Well, we have another player in the Dutch league. He used to play there before too but now he's back.
    -Ok. who else?
-The rest play in the Russian and the Greek leagues! Oh...I forgot. We have another player in the mighty Croatian league. He doesn't play for his team yet. He doesn't even sit on the bench. He will soon, we hope!

    I mean, I'm sorry but it's laughable!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we shouldn't follow our players' progress! But all these excitements and comments like: "Azmoun is in TM, so we're gonna kill the opponents", is all BS! Even with the likes of Karimi, Mahdavikia, Nekounam and Daei we couldn't kill our opponents and at best ended up third in Asia, let alone now with these crop of players we have!

LOL! Reading some of the comments just make me laugh!
          Stop complaining?
          There is two scenarios:
          1) He is good enough to play in Croatia league
          or
          2) He isn't probably
Not all transfers are supposed to become a success. As i said he isn't even top 5 DM in Iran. Can he progress and goes against odds? Yes of course, like many did, Vahid Hashemian the most famous one in Iranian football...
Some of you kids are just funny..

In all fairness, Karimi looked promising when he was 18-19. he had some flashy moments here and there and showed some sign of all around midfielder who can even score but somehow his progress stopped from 19 to 21-22. He is still a decent player for IPL standard but establishing in a league which is not known to be a best place for foreigner i had my doubt from first day.
If i was him and of course had the option, i would have opted for somewhere else in Europe which are more familiar with our players at least..

Consider the fact that all of these players, except Karim, Reza, and Masoud, are still very young and will probably play huge roles on better teams in their prime....

^ exactly, with their current rate of progress, one can be sure that in a year or two, at least half of them will step into a major european league.

Who did really know about Saeid before moving to Atletico's youth team? now at age of 20 he will play in UEFA CL!

We couldn't have dreamt of it few years ago, with the state of our football.

The likes of Kia, Daei and Hashemian were exceptional talents who took the right path. These youngsters may not yet be at that level, but they are certainly on the right track.

Well he does have one point, saying Azmoun will thrash Bayern is just an autistic statement. But it's still good to see them performing in these European leagues.

well it was obvious from the 5 year contract and AK's young age, that he wasnt bought up by Dinamo to be a regular for their first team..!
and obviously if he got 90min in their 2nd team days earlier, then its also another obvious sign that he is unlikely to be part of the first team in their game shortly afterwards..!
i think once the CL group games get underway next week, his chances of appearance in the C-league First team games will increase exponentially as the coach will be rotating his squad to keep his key players rested for more important CL Clashes..! also if team looses key starters in his DM position to injuries or transfer market..!!

IF next season or year after if he is still getting rare 1ST team minutes then it could be cause for some worries but its laughable to expect such from him this year..!!

im more hopeful of a early loan move outa Croatian league for our young lad..!! i think he could have a quicker breakout in a less physical European league..!!

Jeez people need to tone down their expectations. As Tehranto jan has been saying for so long he Karimi was purchased and signed to for a 5-year contract, and you can't expect him to start for the first team right away. I understand some members' frustrations when they've seen our amazing players in the past like Daei, original Karimi, Hashemian, Mahdavikia etc but projecting those frustrations onto our young players who are trying hard to succeed in European leagues is just selfish. Even if the Croatian league isn't on the same standard as the top leagues of the world it's undeniably a hub for young players to develop and make the jump to bigger teams; and even if Karimi doesn't become a regular in the starting 11 this season it's not the end of the world. None of our current successful players in TM were as good as they are now in their first European season. We need to have patience, the foundations for success have already been set.

Signing a long term contract doesn't mean anything. Haghighi also signed a 5 years deal and we all know the rest.

You can pull out Haghighi as an example of European failure sure but that's down to his unreliable and inconsistent performances. Since Karimi is younger he will definitely be given more time to develop. Also, Haghighi is a goalkeeper, which is an extremely competitive position where just 1 is used for a team for the majority of the season. Outfield players are much more likely to be rotated and provided that Karimi works hard and impresses in training, I don't see why he won't eventually get a chance, maybe he'll be on the bench in a first team match soon! Rome wasn't built in a day, just like Karimi's European career won't.

                            Ali Karimi @ Dinamo Zagreb | 2016-2017

I'm fine if Ali gives it his best, yet fails to cut in Europe.

But Unfortunately, his performances in Asian U-23 Championships earlier this year he showed that he's lazy at times.

He was caught out of position at times in that competition, but we are all humans and we make mistakes sometimes.

The problem is that in Europe the threshold for error is much smaller than in Iran, so Karimi has to really be flawless in order to move up the ranks at Dinamo Zagreb.

What I'm trying to say is that if he is not willing to pull his finger out, then he doesn't deserve to play European football.

Sue thing! I do consider it but people who become "javgir" and already from now make them gods, seem not to cosider it. I mean Mahdavikia was as young as Ali Karimi when he went to Europe and at that age, he was one of his team's best players, not in the Russian or the Croatian leagues but in Bundesliga!! Not even in one of their weaker teams but in Hamburg!!! Just like now, people thought he was young and he could go to a better team/league later but he remained there, which was fine. But at least at that time people would be excited when he played well because he was playing in one of the world's top leagues! Now people get so excited when Ali Karimi makes the bench in the Croatian league, it's as if they think Iran can now beat Germany! I mean it's laughable!

As for these young players (specially the ones in the Russian leagues because they get playing time), it remains to be seen when they top their games and if they can consistently keep top level football throughout their entire careers. For all we know what we see from them today might be their very top game in their life time and in a year or 2 they might come back to Iran with their tails behind their legs. The main point is, when/if Azmoun moves to a club in a bigger league and starts to score goals against the likes of let's say, Juventus, Milan, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, often on weekly basis, then we can all be "deadly" excited! But now...... lol
