I wish him all the best. Kudos to this young guy for choosing the right - and difficult - way for progress. I hope he is successful and gets a lot of playing time.
I just don´t know if Karimi is a defensive midfielder, an offensive one or an allrounder?sigpic

Guys don't rely on comments from facebook. Word of advice not just for Croatian clubs, but ANY clubs. The most vocal are usually the most ignorant.
Regarding Ali Karimi and his position. The "true DM" doesn't exist (at least in many ways) the way he used to. Croatia, for example, played without one in their entire 23-man Euros squad. The closest thing they had to one was Milan Badelj, who is far from a true DM. They rely mostly on central midfielders who can link-up the midfield but can also be defensively responsible. Basically willing to cover space and be able to read play, make a tackle. Badelj, for instance, was an attacking mid in his youth days. Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic are other examples. All very gifted offensive players, but play deep(er), in order to dictate play.
I don't know how Kranjcar plans to utilize him yet, but it's safe to say it's as some sort of central midfielder. For now it seems he's using some sort of 4-2-3-1. That could change, but if it stays that way, Karimi would obviously be competing for a spot in that "2". Last season at Dinamo that was usually occupied by Machado & Antolic, and neither is a DM. Both central mids (Machado looks like he might transfer to Al Nassr).
Anyway, just some info that you might find useful.

With Dinamo you never know when there will be a transfer. So many players are being linked with moves away from the club. Central mids who would probably be competing with Karimi for minutes are:
Machado (likely to leave)
Antolic
Jonas
Pavicic
Rog (he's an offensive mid who has been played more defensively recently, including for Croatia vs Spain at these Euros)
Andrijasevic
Pamic
But again, we'll still see who's there at the end. Some will be transferred, some will likely go out on loan. Too early to tell, speculate. They just started their preseason camp (played 1 friendly), but that was without their players who were away on international duty.
