    Alireza Jahanbakhsh @ AZ Alkmaar | 2016/17

^ and Ajax plus other Dutch teams still do remarkable with a relatively low budget, while the Russian giants get eliminated left and right despite their multimillion starplayers. So that's why I think Eredivisie is better than RPL. I compare it to the ACL situation with IPL teams relying on domestic talent while Qatari teams are spending shit ton of money to win it.

That was so shocking from Lyon. Watched it with some OL fans they were absolutely disgusted with their performance Well played Ajax I was expecting them to edge it but certainly did not expect this

The thing is that uefa competitions aren't really significative of how good a league is (same could be said about ACL).. Yes, it gives you an idea of how strong top teams from different countries are, but it says noting about the competitiveness of the domestic leagues they're playing in.
Now , even if we disregard these fact and still compare RPL and Eredivisie teams performance in europe during last years, we see that Russian clubs were more succesfull and amassed more points than Dutch clubs every single season since 2012-2013 (at least) which is why RPL is ranked 6th in europe while Eredivisie is only 13th

ps: don't get me wrong though, I'm 100% convinced that Eredivisie is a far better league for our young players (especially the wingers/strikers) and all our talents would be far better off joining teams from that league instead of going to Russia and getting stuck there

Ajax got raped by Rostov. In the same season.

I'm not happy with azmoun and ezatollahis current situation either, but that doesn't make eredivisie stronger.

eredivisie teams have better attackers and creative players, but they have very poor physicality and defense.

I do agree though that eredivisie is a better development league.

It doesn't make it a stronger league, however.

Damn, so basically no Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord that can afford him.

Btw, the good performances of Ajax means that the Eredivisie will rise in the UEFA coefficient rankings, meaning that they will be in the top 10 again by the 2018/2019 season.

And if Ajax wins the EL meaning that they will be automatically in the CL next season, an additional preliminary CL spot goes to the 3rd ranked team of the league PSV.

So potentially ALL top 3 Eredivisie teams can be in the CL next season.

So Eredivisie will regain more points on the long term.

Rostov was knocked out by Manchester United in the round of 16, while Ajax was playing against F.C. Copenhagen. Huge difference.

Kopenhagen are actually a decent team who were 3rd in their CL group with 9 pts (more than Rostov), and Ajax beat Schalke afterwards too...what did Rostov exactly do? Beating Sparta Prague isn't exactly an achievement...their only noteworthy win was vs. Bayern which they deserve credit for. But Ajax also defeated a similar team (Barca) couple years back.

I'm not saying Copenhagen is a bad team, I'm just saying you can't compare the two since Rostov faced the tournaments strongest team, Ajax faced some mediocre Danish team.

And to answer your question of what Rostov did, they knocked out Ajax and took their Champions League spot in the qualifications.

They're gonna hold out this Rostov beat Ajax this, Rostov beat Ajax that on you till the end of time. Anyone with sense knows Ajax would beat them today with the form they've hit, no point clashing heads with others.

not to mention beat bayern fucking munich, and only barely lost to Athletico Madrid, and kept PSV in check for two games, and crushed anderlecht and sparta prague as well. Rostov havent conceded a goal in 11 games...Yes going forward they aren't exciting whatsoever, but you have to respect that. Kiarash has been shitting on them since azmoun went there cuz he would just love him to be playing in holland lol. Its quite a strange obsession.

now im not saying sardar should stay there, are that rostov are an amazing team, but I find it petty to keep belittling their achievements. Ajax play very exciting football, but against a decent defense I think they would really struggle, like they did against rostov. You can see the difference in quality of EL and CL just by the defenses in latter stages of competition. Just look at dolberg's goal today, Lyon parted like the red sea...

Come on man, writing those things sounds good but is disingenuous.

Kopenhagen was grouped with Porto, Leicester and Club Brugge, hardly even comparable to Athletico, Bayern, PSV (PSV to a lesser extent). Rostov's other matches like against Athleti which was not a win should also not be ignored with Griezemann pulling some magic in the last seconds to win the game.

^ Which is a blessing in disguise, because Ajax has come this far and shows who the better team is. Defending with 10 men like Rostov will earn you nothing eventually, while Ajax offense is taking them further.
