They've been disastrous. They lost most of their matches in the past 1-2 years, including to relative minnows such as Iceland and Turkey. However they are slowly climbing back up again. I hope they win their group and qualify to the WC.
P.S. If Iran defeats Syria next month, and Netherlands loses to Belgium in their friendly match, then Iran will be above Netherlands in the next rankings for the first time in history.

I want a friendly between Netherlands and Iran in Netherlands.

OR a World Cup group stage match between these two teams.

That is the match I have been looking most forward to in my life as football fan.

Netherlands has as much of chance winning their group as us reaching the quarter finals/semi finals of the WC.
Also the chances of the NL losing to Belgium and us winning from Syria is pretty high.., would be pretty cool if it happened :P.

Last year there was a MoU signed between the football federations of Iran and Netherlands. So maybe they will arrange something before WC2018.

I just spent the past hour making a more accurate predition of Iran's November ranking if they defeat Syria.

Here are my results:

Most probable ranking according to my predictions is 25

The highest ranking Iran could get would be 22

The lowest ranking Iran could get would be 26

That means that if Iran defeats Syria they will at least go up 1 place.

Depending on the results of several other matches (e.g. Turkey, Paraguay, Mexico, Peru, Hungary, Bosnia, etc) Iran could get as high as 22.

But we will most likely get 24 or 25 next month.

That's not true. We've played teams that have played Israel. We just haven't arranged a friendly with Bosnia.

we can play iceland, if we beat syria and get up 23, we can even get higher if we win the friendly we can go higher also, but i think any team rank 20-30 is a reasonable friendly
