This notion that Masoud could only be a good sub and only if he is in his best shape, when he is one of the most committed and experienced TM players, is very insulting.

If we have the team we have now healthy, A Dejagah/Shojaei CAM switch may work.
No reason to play both at the same time. We have a team that is WAY FASTER than any other team we have ever had. Syria/Qatar//Uzbekistan's aging defense is at risk. Even South Korea's Kwak Tae Hwi is turning 35. Might as well play into it. Let Jahanbakhsh/Azmoun/Mohammadi can literally tear apart teams with pace. With Ezzatollahi destroying we can control the games.
Shojaei can give decent through balls which we need to break up a team like Qatar that will bulk their defense with African players

He is not a player of the same level as many other Iranians though. He has flashes of brilliance, but he is inconsistent. I respect him and his contributions, but he will soon be in TM's rear-view.

I think most people forget but in his last 10 or so games for TM he was significantly better than before.
Also you guys can hate on him as much as you want but we currently have 0 attacking midfielders with his passing vision or ability.
This guy made a joke out of mascherano more than once.
I trust who CQ chooses. There's a reason shojaei gets invited back.

At this point in time Shojaei is less of the flashy dribbler that he used to be, and just a smart distributor now. Being a smart distributor is a very valuable asset for a team, but it goes unnoticed a lot because it is not catching to the eye.
Shojaei also has that X factor which a lot of our players don't have. It comes about much less than it used to, but he is still a player that can change a game for the better with just one slicing pass or one lane opening dribble. IMO he still has a place in TM, maybe not as a fix starter, 90 min player, but he can still play a role.

I think the front line is filled with talent at the moment, and I would rather see the following play ahead of Shojaei:
Azmoun, Taremi, Ansarifard, Jahanbakhsh, Dejagah, Amiri, Torabi, Ghoochannejhad, and probably a few other attackers I am forgetting.
Again, I am not insulting Shojaei, and I think his presence in TM can be important. He provides leadership and experience to the squad like Teymourian. I would not risk playing him though, as I see his weaknesses outweigh his strengths at the moment.
It's just a personal opinion, and if history serves us right, CQ agrees with me. I've only seen Shojaei play a handful of matches in the last 2 years. He has certainly been phased out of the starting line-up. I see him making scarce substitute appearances moving forward.
We have so much depth up front at the moment, that we just don't need to be relying on a 30+ year old attacking midfielder. Dejagah is soon to join that club unless he makes a club transfer that really increases his playing level.

This gives the opponents dangerous set piece opportunities, and honestly, that is the only way I fear TM getting scored on. Lucky set pieces.

In terms of Shojaei fouling, I honestly think that most of his fouls (and our other TM players fouls) are on purpose, instructed by CQ.
Next TM game we play, notice where most of our fouls are conceded. They are mostly in the middle of the pitch, give or take a quarter. These are smart fouls that stop counters, and kill the flow of the opposing team. Shojaei's seemingly pointless fouls are usually in that area. Although I do admit he does tend to foul in more dangerous areas as well, once in a while.

I'll wager that if Arash Afshin has a strong start with Mansourian and SS, he might even replace Amiri on the wing.

I still think you guys are underrating Shojaei... Like KeonKish said, theres a reason CQ keeps inviting him to TM. He provides us with sparks of brilliance and is still one of our better attacking midfielders. Going to Panonios would be awesome for Shojaei, and I still think he has 2-3 years left in the gas tank. Here's a fun fact: He's only 8 months older than Ronaldo!! He still has time.

One thing is for sure. No matter this transfer happens or not, he's earned more respect than ever. The guy is 32 and very often criticised but never gave up. He could easily just pick a club in Qatar or UAE or even IPL and earn $$ but instead, he still seems to be motivated and doing his best to stay in Europe and work hard most probably for try to keep a spot in National Team. And when you see what a looser such as Taremi did, you just cant stop givin more credit to players like Masoud. Damesh Garm.
