IFF hasn't signed anything with Adidas, they will get their equipment from one of the Adidas stores in Iran/Middle East.

You're probably joking but this seems to be a common misconception among Iranians. Adidas, Nike, and Puma sponsor hundreds of teams around the world and use their regional factories to manufacture the jerseys. For example, Adidas factories in Turkey make jerseys for Adidas teams in the Turkish league. The same is true of almost all countries that Adidas has factories in, except rogue states like Iran, North Korea, etc.

In fact, the only German-made Adidas jerseys are produced for Bundesliga teams, and in some cases, even those are made in overseas facilities because of labor costs. It sounds like the IFF is purchasing legit Adidas gear made in an Adidas factory somewhere in Asia or the Middle East. Unlike Iran where everything is a knock-off of the real thing, foreign-produced Adidas/Nike/Puma gear is the same quality as those made in Germany and the US.

Gameday....they're not gonna release what the kits will look like since there is no contract. Like people have mentioned, it will likely just be the generic style adidas kits with our federation patch. Also, when we tested puma a few years back that's exactly how we did it....used a generic puma kit with our names, numbers, and logos.

People are thinking about fakes because I remember not too long ago even Ali Daei's "official" Adidas store (the one in moniriyeh) would sell fake shirts.

Thinking about the design tho, I always liked the design of Ali Daei's "Iranol" (lol) jersey's we wore in Asian Cup 2004

Yeah I remember buying something from Ali Daei's shop when I was younger and later finding out it was fake. That was a long time ago though.

Also there is official Adidas presence in Iran and their stuff is just as pricey as everywhere else in the world. I don't think Ali Daei was ever an official re seller of any brands hence he would sell whatever he wanted.

Are you guys kidding me? Uhlsports rep in Tehran...can't get more official than that sold my father inlaw a green TM kit. They claimed this would be used in near future...well that never happened.

Fakes are abound when it comes to Iran related gear.

ive owned a sport shop in US since 1992
what i can tell you is The dealer Cost on all big brand Apparel (Nike, Adidas, Puma etc) is always Half of the official MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price)
on Footwear is less, more like 45% profit margin, so for example you buy clothing for $50 cost, sell for $100 retail,, buy shoes @$55 sell for $100

unless your a Corporate store (ie Adidas official Store, Nike Town stores ) those are in General the Margins you'll be working with, being a huge reseller (like Academy Sports, footlocker, finishline etc) doesnt necessarily result in big discounts or much larger margins from big brands. Sure they will get slightly larger margins 5 to possibly 15% based on huge volumes they buy compared to a small independence retailer such as me but generally they are working with similar margins but they are offered much better Terms that helps them pay nike back for the invoices in much longer time than the typical Net 30 or Net 60 offered to small potatoes like me..!

what im getting at is that if some supposed Adidas (ME)retailer is selling these kits to IFF at prices below or @ Half the Suggested Retail, then they Better Question the legitimacy of these supposed Adidas kits..!
the Country of where these Adidas garments made isnt necessarily the indicator of it Being Official product..! from what i know nearly All if not at least 95% of Adidas products are produced in factories outside of Germany..! mostly in SE Asia..!
another way to ensure they are buying Official product is to compare the Features and Quality of the Material ..! Look for the "ClimaCool", "ClimaFit" etc logos that advertise the Moisture Wicking properties of the Kit...!! But then again a good fake also slaps on those logos on their POS material next to the Adidas logo..!!

so considering they'll be shopping for these kits in regions flooded with fake Adidas Apparel and Stores, and chasing after the LOWEST PRICED KIT that has the Adidas Logo on it, my money is also on us wearing FADIDAS in the upcoming games and then players bitching about the quality of their kiri kits..!!

And no fking way even if they get a hold of an official Adidas Kits, they could convince Adidas to make them a Unique Style for a measly quantity of 3-500 kits of..!! lol and that without an official sponsorship agreement ...!!

                    PS
up until about 5-6 years ago(the brand didnt do too well for me and i stopped buying from them since) , Adidas offered their TEAM APPAREL directly through themselves, unlike Nike Which just sells their logo to some other smaller company (NTS Nike Team Sport) to handle the demands for their uniforms for different smaller country-wide Sports Leagues ..!! Although close enough, the overall quality of garments bought direct from Nike still was better that the stuff purchased for leagues through NTS..!
similarly Adidas has All their Accessories and Equipment licensed to AGRON...! a Totally separate company that just has the official license to slap an Adidas Logo on HATS, BAGS, Wristbands, gloves , ect..!!

also this is true as it pertains to North American Markets, It may be a whole different ball game and set-up on how Adidas handles their business elsewhere in the world ...!

Thanks. Interesting read. I would think it would be a bit different though if they are in negotiations with Adidas. They may be coming to a short term solution without a sponsorship deal until the Givova contract is taken care of.

I guess you have access to my passprt?

It's not an Iran thing it's a fake thing...it's happening worldwide in every sport. In Canada official retailers have been busted unknowingly selling fake nhl jerseys. Marketplace the cbc doc series even travelled to China and their reps couldn't tell the difference between fakes and authentic products being produces (look wise).

I didn't mean to offend your Iran pride...but for all the logical reasons outlined above by a person who has skin in the game we should be skeptical. When in Iran to date have official things worked so smoothly...particularly when TM is involved. I am positive Uhlsport Germany had no intention for our TM to wear fakes. Why would they do that with their biggest contract?

Btw just do a search here...Nike has no store or official rep in Iran.

                          http://www.nike.com/gb/en_gb/sl/store-locator

They have said this countless times even though a store is located in Tehran.

Lol I have no Idea why you interpreted my comment as hostile, but hey if you want to take it that way that's up to you.

I was in Iran only few months ago and went to both Nike and Adidas stores which did not used to be there when I went many years ago before that, which is why I said it seems you have not been there recently.

Ulhsport signed a contract with IFF through a third party company based in Dubai owned by an Iranian also as you may have seen recently in Navad, Givova (Iran is also their biggest sponsorship) officially licensed Iranian companies to manufacture it's products and use its logo so they are not above this kind of stuff.

Stay with Givova now, no need to take a random adidas shirts (like the ugly puma one some years ago). Except Taremi and Rezaian, they won't miss a pass, a control or a 100% goal because of a jersey.

I was merely curious how my post made it sound like I have not been to Iran since we were discussing two foreign companies.

Also let's look at the facts...you went to a "Nike Store" in Iran...yet http://www.nike.com/sk/en_gb/sl/store-locator which is their official site, lists no official retailer or store in Iran. When you look up Canada, USA, UAE, etc they even list generic sports shops that have a license to sell Nike products (i.e., footlocker, sportchek) but do not list anything for Iran once again! So to accurately capture your experience we can conclude you went to a store that sold Nike products but likely is not endorsed by Nike Meaning if our TM is getting anything from this place or a place similar to it, we should expect that it is possible what happened with Uhlsport will happen with Nike as well I am basing my comment on the facts and our past experience, not on some fantasy or dream And no passport checking needed.

Oh ya and then this story came out late last year...
