I see a lot of Ali Karimi's, but to be honest, I don't see him getting much playing time in the qualifying matches let alone starting in one... I think Karimi is our future in the CM/CDM spot with Ezatolahi... but as of right now, I think Karimi needs to mature more. Even though Ezatolahi is younger, you can already tell how much he has matured while at Athletico and Rostov...Right now, I think the starters at CM/CDM will be Ezatolahi and Ando, with Ebrahimi and Shojaei as backups (with shojaei getting subbed in if we need to go on attack)

I am a strong supporter of the 4-3-3 system. But for these games i would like to see the 4-2-3-1 system, maybe it will suit TM better.

Ezatolahi would function as the playmaker, and Jahanbakhsh, Dejagah and Torabi would have free roles and switch positions (tutti frutti style) which will confuse the hell out of the opponents!

I like both of those lineups! I like how you both included Torabi... He'll definitely be included in our future lineups, but it'll be tough for him to start. Such a hardworking player.

I like the german-style of bringing in tall CB to the RB/LB position.
We also did that a few times, and I am sure that Montazeri can do that.
With Tayebi and Jalal Hosseine we would have two strong personalities.
(If we wouldn't lack friendlies, I would consider Kanaanizadegan or Nejad Mehdi.)
Shojaeian can also play CM. I'd rather let him or Ali Karimi play than Ando, because
Ando was almost absent for 2 years, had a horrible season at Saipa/Umm Salal..

I think its best we use our veterans in this game. This is a major turning point game for us. Qatar has dirty tricks and the team we fielded last cycle learned to deal with them and snatch a win in Doha. Obviously keep Ezzatollahi/ Azmoun/Mohammadi in there but the rest should have prior experience playing Qatar.


Iran never leads with a strong start in its first two games and it would be a huge step to qualifying if we win these first two games.

I would include Ehsan Pahlevan instead of Ali Karimi. Just because a player is in Europe (not even playing yet) doesn't mean he's better than some of the players we have at home. I am also in favor of starting to include Shekari in some of these preliminary lists. He'll be 20 when WC 2018 starts so it would be great experience for him.

Shojaei doesn't belong in TM anymore, I don't care if he plays in Europe or not.

But in all honesty our younger players right now are so much better than our oldies! I actually think beside Hosseini and Teymourian (if he's in form), none of them should start the games.

IMO I agree with persepolis 1... Our veterans would serve us well against Qatar. They aren't a particularly fast team and experience is definitely needed to win. My lineup would still be something like this:
