Just something to consider and think about
We have some pretty good depth now, I can imagine at least 2 different lineups that we could dress, which would be quite dangerous for most teams in Asia.

If we are going to have problems in TM, I hope it is only problems like this haha. Too much depth, too many players in form, etc..

haha exactly... I actually don't see either Kamya or Shojaeian starting, but do see one of them having a big role off the bench. Likely Shojaeian.

We have GREAT depth, I don't want to over hype this current crop as we tend to do that in Iranian football, but facts are facts. Compare this team to our 2014 team and it's such a huge upgrade.

2014 team - 1 solid striker (RGN), a strong and deep overall MF, a strong but aging Defense (very few to no young players), and a concerning GK trio (not to take away credit from Ahmadi, he was a fine keeper but little intl experience same with haghighi and Davari)

2016 team - an excess of talented strikers, a perfect combo of youth and veterans and overall a stronger MF even deeper than 2014, a defense with a great combo of youth and experience [strength is tbd in WCQs], and many capeable 1st team GKs

We have come a long way but we got to prove it and finally have a WCQ with as little head aches as possible. As I said before, if there is ever going to be a WCQ round with minimal amount of head aches this has got to be it given our route and our crop of players.
        Team Meli Iran
        Perspolis FC
        Malavan Bandar Anzali

Many useless players among them, with no perspective.

Saei Aghaei (21, Left-Back, 1,84m) is an interesting prospect. Also I'm dying to see if Soroush Rafiei is starting material, and if he can fill our gap in OM.

I believe Shojaeijan will start vs Qatar he is more diversive than Kamiyabinia

The Qatar match where I wil be attending on September the first , is a must win for us

4 years I was there in Azadi also when we played poorly and got a 0-0 draw with Qataralmost exactly to the date of our next match

Even tho I believe Qatar will park the bus in front their goal but I predict a 2-0 win for TM

Why didn´t Danial Mahini, a young RB that was called up last time by CQ, got called up again??? Especially considering that Ghafouri is in terrible shape and Rezaeian mostly is in no-shape as he has no team!!!
              sigpic

That's because he didn't get a single minute so far for SS Khuzestan this season and was benched for Jalal Abdi who's the same age.
Ghafouri and Rezaeian are more experienced and developed players, Mahini is promising but still young, he will come good with time.

What happened is that last season both Abdi and Mahini played the exact same number of games and as per Veisi's words, he didn't know who to chose between them and kept rotating them equally. In the end, CQ and his crew apparently saw something special in Mahini, perhaps indicating a bigger potential which is why he was invited. Personally I wouldn't be able to say more than this as I didn't watch them enough

Somewhat true. Players do become better over time and the experience that they acquire. We still have roughly about two years for the WC in Russia. Who really knows how the squad will change during that period. Vardy played in the lower leagues and he is quite an older player when he got called up to the national team. People change for better or worse, but we always have to look at the other options available to us. He might play in the 5th division of the Netherlands, but how do you know he isn't fit to play for a higher league? If Hajsafi remained in Frankfurt SV, he would have been the legionnaire who played for TM, and who played in a 3rd division league in Europe. Therefore numbers don't really matter, talent does however. Taha Zareei, another example, considered as one of the brightest talents in this forum and probably in Iran, plays for a 2nd division Portuguese team, but he will be loaned out to a 3rd division team later on this year, so he can acquire more experience. Does this mean, he's a bad player? Of course not, he is branching out in order to acquire the skills to get him to higher position in his career.

*On a side note* For the first time ever, I have seen the most competitive domestic league that we ever had, and I believe its going to get much better from now on. The underdogs who got promoted this year are not really underdogs, they are now considered a competition. The current league table results really says it all.
