Qatar has played Iraq on August/8th, and will play against Jordan and Thailand before our game. that's three games in 16 days. they will be more in rhythm than our team. we really have done terrible with setting up friendlies, and for this reason I don't expect a good game from our boys. we can still win, but no surprise for me if we didn't.

We always start shaky in a campaign but it would be nice to beat Qatar since its such a bogey game for us. We were terrible and our of sync against Uzbekistan with a much inferior team to the one we have now.
As for the month long camp, it probably wont happen for us anymore if we want legionnaire players. Every Qatari besides Akram Afif plays in QSL which has a break for now. We cant get Mohammadi/ Azmoun /Ezzatollahi/JB/Gucci/Ansarifard/Shojaei to leave unless the clubs release them.

I just had the worst nightmare ever. I dreamed that TM lost 4-2 to Qatar. I swear i was asking myself in the dream, How is this possible we would lose to Qatar with such a strong squad? God forbid nothing bad happens during the game.Last edited by SinaOlyaei; 08-23-2016, 04:33 AM.

This is the first time since our opening WC match against Nigeria where we are heading into a very crucial game and the GK spot is completely open - in other words, all 3 GKs have a shot at being the starter. I think we will see haghighi but I wouldn't be surprised to see Beiro or Mazaheri either. I know Akhbari is still on the team but I think he will get cut, but even if he makes it he's nowhere near consistent enough to be starting.
The defense is also a big question mark, there's a lot of different combinations he can go with and it'll be interesting to see what he chooses. My best guess is he will go with experience, if we look back to 2012 when we opened up our final round of WCQ's CQ used a pretty experienced lineup vs Uzbekistan but also gave some ppl a starting opportunity for the first time (Montazeri instead of Aghili and Ebrahimi as striker) and also used some players out of position (Nouri as LB and AK as a striker for most of the 2nd half). I don't expect to see as much experimenting seeing how he's much more familiar with this crop but I wouldn't be so surprised to see the likes of Poughaz or Tayebi to get a start. Will be interesting to see what happens!Team Meli Iran

We still have no idea how Ezzatollahi/Jahanbakhsh/Torabi these new guys will play against Qatar.

Qatar isn't the most dangerous team in Asia but I doubt CQ risks a newcomer like Tayyebi at CB unless he was leagues better than the rest.

I think Ezzatollahi and JB will do just fine considering they play against much better teams than Qatar each week, and if Torabi plays like anything he's been recently for either club or country (as we saw against stronger AFC teams like Japan, Korea or Uzbekistan) he will run circles around African and South American Qataris
