This team had been in the camp for 20 days before start of this campaign. Based on FIFA plan, we should not have stopped IPL matches and we should have started the preparation four days before start of this campaign like Japan, Australia, and Korea but we did not obey the FIFA plan let's say correctly and the team had 20 days camp. You reminded me of CQ before AC 2015 who interviewed with almost all foreign/Australian news agencies and was trying to make bullshit excuses for his possible Asian Cup failure before start of that tournament by complaining about lack of having enough facilities and friendly matches and saying the situation have been worse although we had friendly against Korea and Iraq and he preferred Portugal Camp over two international friendly matches in two FIFA days and only the friendly against Palestine was cancelled. Note that Japan won the AC 2011 without having any friendly match four months before start of that tournament.
Obviously no game should be treated as a walkover game in this round. However no excuse to not start the campaign with full three points. We should play our best possible football without thinking about the final result during the game and we will achieve our goal from this game.

Many top teams have their players for only a few days due to club/European duties. We are lucky to be in that boat, and not in the boat of having all of our players sitting around in Iran 20 days before the game.
Our talent, experience, gheyrat, and quality is still 10 years ahead of Qatar. In Azadi, they should not even get a shot on our goal.
The only possibility I can see is them getting extremely lucky like Iraq in 2015 AC. Without the game being handed to them with luck or BS, we should win 2-0 easily. I really don't see them as a threat in Tehran. I do see them as a threat at home, but we will still likely win that match. Qatar's quality is just not there.
For me, it is like a game of Germany vs. Romania. Even with a month of training for the Romanians, and even though they are improving, they should not beat Germany at home. 9/10 Germany wins. 9/10 Iran wins. There is always that chance of failure, but it is unlikely.
Las Vegas betting has Iran as fairly heavy favorites, and Qatar pretty heavy underdogs. They even predict a tie between the two teams as unlikely.
It will be a frustrating game for sure, but we have to believe in our talent.

DEJAGAH AND IRAN NOT UNDERESTIMATING QATAR THREAT
/ Aug 27 2016 /
Tehran: Iran vice-captain Ashkan Dejagah believes his side will have to be at their very best when they meet Qatar in the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The two teams will face off in their opening Group A third round clash in Tehran’s iconic Azadi Stadium on September 1.
Al Arabi midfielder Dejagah, who is one of the very few current Asian internationals with a top European league title under his belt, exclusively told www.sc.qa that ‘Al Annabi’ have improved enormously and can challenge his team for a direct entry to Russia.
“The Qatar national team has improved so much over the last four years since we played them in the 2014 qualifiers. They now pose a threat to all other Asian sides. They have a number of good players almost all of whom play in the Qatar Stars League. Football in Qatar is more competitive and a lot different now,” said the 2008-09 Bundesliga winner with Wolfsburg.
In April, when the third round draw was made, Queiroz had tipped opposite number José Carreño’s side along with continental heavyweights Korea Republic as the main Group A challengers blocking Iran’s progress to their second successive FIFA World Cup.
Dejagah, who plied his trade in the English Premier League for two seasons with Fulham before joining Al Arabi in 2014, gave further credence to his coach’s analysis. He added: “Qatar have the ability to qualify for Russia. South Korea are the frontrunners. China can be a tough side at their home. Uzbekistan can be tricky. So there will not be any easy matches for us in the group.”
The latest edition will add to Dejagah’s indelible memories of previous Iran vs Qatar contests. Iran’s best ever left-winger, who usually plays on the right for Al Arabi, made his international debut in February 2012 at the Azadi Stadium against Qatar in a third round qualifier for the 2014 FIFA World Cup which ended in a 2-2 draw.
“Though we could not win, it was a memorable occasion for me as I scored both our goals in my first international game,” continued Dejagah. “It will be a great feeling to face Qatar again in front of our home crowd.”
Four months after his debut, Qatar again came calling to the iconic Azadi this time for a fourth round 2014 qualifier. ‘Team Melli’ were held to a goalless draw in front of 100,000 people with Dejagah coming on as a second half substitute.
Asia's third qualifying round for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia: Group A: China, Iran, Korea Republic, Qatar, Syria, Uzbekistan
“I have put that game to the back of my mind,” he said. “I am now focusing on the 2018 qualifier. Qatar are a tough team and will give us a fight again. However, this time they will also be under pressure as they will be looking at three points. We are confident we can do our best to make our people happy.”
Standing in the way of that mission are a few familiar faces, none more so than Dejagah’s Al Arabi teammate and fellow winger Boualem Khoukhi, who has found the net four times for Qatar during their second round qualifying campaign.
“I know Boualem well as a person,” said Dejagah. “We have been teasing each other about this game from the time the draw was made and I am glad I will be facing him. I wish him the best. He is a great talent, a very clever player. I will update my coach and teammates about his strengths, especially the danger he poses from set-pieces and free-kicks.”

CQ doesn't underestimate teams. His conditioning of our team going into the 1-0 win we had last world cup cycle in Doha was the most disciplined I've ever seen an Iranian team. Every time Qatari's pushed our guys in the box, our players would immediately stop and go to the ref and break up the cheating. Every time our players were fouled, our players held back any anger and sold the foul to get them yellow carded instead.
There were a couple of stupid lapses from Shojaei in the box, but when it came down to it the Qatari's kept diving for a penalty and had no claim at all because our team was disciplined. My prediction is 40% Iran win 50% tie 10% Qatar win just because I expect Qatar's new players to be much better. I hope to be disappointed in them though and we come out with a win by any margin.

Engar jaw va roohyeh tm khaily khoobe felan:

The only thing I'm worried about is the lack of playmakers we have in our team.
CQ has tried Dejagah in that position but it didn't really turn out well.
Also if I remember correctly it was Jabbari who saved our asses in our last WCQ match against Qatar.
I really hope Shojaei is in form because other than him we have no real creativity in our midfield.
Maybe Ezatolahi?
Do we have any creative midfielders in IPL I don't know about?

Qatar national team will have 16 "foreign" players from countries like Uruguay, Brazil, France, Algeria, Ivory Cost, Ghana, Congo, Egypt, Senegal etc.. Nothing new of course, same as usual.
