Here are some things the bigots on this forum should think about before posting racist bullshit on here:

    - Qatar has spent millions of dollars on facilities, stadia, hotels, and footballing infrastructure that's good for the game. What has Iran done in the last 40 years? In fact, name one international caliber stadium that was built in the last 10 years.

    - Qatar naturalizes foreign-born players because it has a population of 300,000 people and no real home-grown talent. It has one of the world's biggest youth academy systems and is training talents from all over the world on a full scholarship system. Young children in our so-called football academies get sexually harassed and raped by their coaches. Name one single national-level youth academy that has raised a football player in Iran. Yeah, didn't think so.

    - Qatar employs hundreds of foreigners including Iranian coaches in its football system. It brings top talent scouts, coaches, and football educators to cultivate a football culture that, for whatever reason, it hasn't had until now. When was the last time a top football personality came to Iran? Scratch that--can you think of the last time one of our coaches actually wanted to learn anything new?

    - Qatar was a no-name minion in 1996. Today, it is a future host of the World Cup, has a strong domestic league, and a football system. What have we got?

You can say all you want about their naturalized players but don't talk shit about what they have done for their football. They are miles ahead of us in terms of professionalization, infrastructure, and respecting the game. Because that's what it is about--respect. And, I must say, they do a hell of a better job respecting the integrity of the game than we have in the last 40 years.
So what? Who's forcing them to have a national team? I don't think the 5 people at their games would care if they didn't have one. Iceland has a smaller population and is doing just fine with Icelandic people. And Qatar population should be closer to 2.5-3 million, the only thing is they don't consider their slaves as people.

What's worse than the racism towards Qatar is the Qatari apologists.

I have seen horrible performances from our TM in the past but today's game deserves a special mention. Team operates with too much self-imposed stress.

        Player ratings:

Beiranvand: I think he did okay, although he was not really tested, but one blunter he committed could have been a costly one. - 5
Rezaeian: I have said this about Rezaeian before. His first few TM games were brilliant, but he has been on a decline since. He plays with little intelligent and his crosses are with eyes closed. I personally think we have better options than him. 2
Hosseini: He was solid. If it wasn't for Hosseini and Montazeri today, I am not sure what the final score would have looked like. 8
Montazeri: He was solid, and reliable as Hosseini. The only thing he needs to improve is his quality of passes. He often moves with the ball forward without knowing what he wants to do with it. 7
Hajsafi: Brain-less as always. I miss Pouladi. 3
Ezatollahi: Nothing really outstanding by him. I have also say it is not easy to pair up with Ando in the middle. He needs to push forward more. 5
Teymourian: He is old now, but still has it and he does it when it is needed. We need a replacement for him soon. 7
Jahanbakhsh: If it wasn't for the goal he scored, his rating would have been 2 or 3. When he plays in Holland, he plays by the book. When he plays for TM, he forgets the rules. Horrible performance by him overall. 4
Dejagah: He is getting old and his performance is suffering a lot. 3
Taremi: I say his issue is self-confidence and experience at international level. He chocks anytime he plays in sensitive games.
Azmoun: Qataries covered him well. He had a few sparks of brilliance, but overall, was an under performer. 4
Gucci: The goal was a gift of God. He did a few good things since he came on the field. what I like about him is his self-confidence. He can perform under pressure. 8
Amiri: His physical strength is very questionable. He needs to step into a gym and pump so iron. He was falling like a gooz ... 5
Ansarifard: oh .. I don't want to talk about this guy!!!

Once again, who cares about their naturalized players? My point is this: look at everything else they are doing for football in their country. Now compare that to what we are doing.

Past couple of years whenever we play in Azadi, if we're able to score early we can score a lot more but if we don't the atmosphere of the stadium kinda has a negative impact on our players. They kinda get nervous and they're not able to play their own game anymore.

I think Iran will play much better in China and would be able to get the 3 points.

If by integrity you mean bribing lebanese players, uzbeki goal keeper, Fifa officials the you are correct.

I'm completely against racism and hate towards anyone and we can't let a sport and a few trolls on internet cloud our judgement towards their people. There are good and bad people everywhere.

They are investing a lot on their stadiums, hotels, camps, youth programs and everything and I wish we were doing that too but that doesn't justify giving citizenships to other players solely so they can do better at sport. There's no short cut to success and they should continue with their academy to train their players so hopefully in the next 10-15 years they can come and play for their own national team. Qataris think they can buy players, fans and everything with money and this is just ruining the sport.

I'm really shocked at the lack of praise I'm seeing for Montazeri and Hosseini....they were BRILLIANT today. The MVP's for me today, the only ones who were outstanding for 90 plus minutes. Of course Reza and JB deserve praise (don't know why/how there are some bashing JB) but Pejman and Seyyed jalal saved us from some pretty clear chances. They may be aging but so far they haven't shown it at all. Dameshoon garm.

Rezaeian, Hajsafi, Ezi and Taremi were our weakest links. If you watch all of the many instances that the Qatari's attacked from the flanks you'll see that's where they had most of their success, and where we had our least was on the left where taremi was and couldn't do a single thing except embarrass us with his dives. I'm really surprised CQ allows that nonsense in his team, I hope he takes him out of the XI he shouldn't be there to begin with given his current form. I don't think ezi completed more than a few passes and made so many silly/stupid fouls in dangerous areas. Rezaeian needs to wake up and realize that WCQs is different than PGL play, you simply cannot rely on stupid/crappy crosses and have some luck to get you a scoring chance I can't stand him there. Rant over, not gonna go on anymore even though there's a lot to say....you all watched and know.

What I was pleased with was JB fighting very hard and actually playing with some intensity constantly hustling back on defense and helping out. If we have Torabi on the opposite flank vs China we will be putting so much pressure on their defense and tire them out very fast, I hope CQ and the staff make that switch.

PS - please stop with the officiating bashing. Yes he sucked, but we have seen worse and what our team did going into half time was very low class and Arab-esque. He was bad but ppl are acting as if he cost us the game and our comments some of our players are making are beyond ridiculous. As soon as that final whistle blows you do what you got to do in order to prepare for the next match and bashing the official will only cause trouble and negative attention, JB and Reza answered perfectly.

Nobody cares what they do "for football in their country".

If they come up against us and start acting like GARGANTUAN African tribesman rolling around a Zulu fire whenever they get touched all those millions would be better spent preventing diabetes in their country or on more modernisation.

If the players we have now cost us nothing and theirs a fortune we have done ok.

You could label it racism if it makes you happy inside but I wouldnt "respect" my opponent for rolling around in the grass. I dont care if you are from a favela or from a jungle f you show up to play, then play.

Hope Uzbekistan beats them on Tuesday so all I hear every 10 seconds on Fox Sports during the 2022 world cup is.. "Qatar... which has never qualified for the world cup before buying it.." Joon mide

Once again AJ scores a goal from outside the box, by diving into the ball.

It's so weird, cause it looks like he his about to lose his balance and fall down, but he generates more power in this motion to get the ball past the keeper.

Very similar to his second goal against Ajax to keep NEC survival hopes alive.

Can't wait for the China match! I hope it was just a bad day against Qatar. If we beat China then this would be a great achievement cause I don't think there is any team in this group who could beat them away.
I would be happy with a draw too.

Beiranvand - 6 - Shaky at times, but he has the right idea
Hajsafi - 2 - Took me back to the 90s. A player with that many caps needs to show way more composure. Really going to be difficult for me to view him positively from now on. Haven't seen a TM defender defend that bad in years.
                          Hosseini - 9 - Saved Hajsafi/Rezaeian many times. Solid
                          Montazeri - 9 - same as Hosseini
Rezaeian - 4 - Great hair. That's about it. Poorly composed, and went nowhere. Let way too many players go by him.
Teymourian - 6 - slow but reliable with tackles and hustle
Ezatollahi - 6 - Defensively good, offensively invisible
Dejagah - 6 - Bursts of energy but he is now the least fit player on the team.
Taremi -5 - He needs to run with the ball. He doesn't work that great as a target man. Very lethargic.
Jahanbakhsh - 6 - Was not at his best. He didn't use his speed and offensively was bad minus the goal.
Azmoun - 6 - was not fed well. Not utilized right.

Ansarifard - 7 - Ran and tried and assisted when it mattered
Gucci - 8 - Great goal. Just for that. Did what he's there for.
Amiri - 6 - not much worse or better.

Overall TM played horrible. Made Qatar look alot better than it is. Having said that it means Qatar is actually quite bad that after months of training and friendlies this was their best! Our other opponents will be much more tough, including Syria.
However, the clutch and never give up attitude of TM is commendable and encouraging.
I will chalk this game up to nerves and lack of familiarity considering most of the team had only been together for 3 days.

Next game I would like to see Ghafouri as RB and Mohammadi as LB.

Also the ref was incompetent. Not prepared for such an event and stage.
Qatar, their players and style - shameful. Stop trying to defend them like you're some sort of modern Nelson Mandela.

                            It was a sweet win....+3 pts & + 2 gd
                            ...
CQ,after the game said..the Qatar game plan was to man handle Iranian players technically and physically....particularly in the first half.
the Qatar team, was a good team, and I can see them causing problems for the other teams in the group.
CQ game plans are great..the game plan is defense first..and that is how it should be....

Don't think a lot of people are mentioning this. Ando's pass to JB was a super sexy pass/assist. Sure Ando wasn't super good this game but for me that nice vision made the game so much sweeter.
                              EAT. SLEEP. TM. REPEAT.
