I got a lot of time for the former player, the man and the legend that is Javad Nekounam but man needs to be talked to about his conduct. He was in the referee's face before the half-time whistle left the ref's lips and he's balls-deep into the melee at the end which frankly no one on our side needs to be involved with. Passion though still, bless him.

On the players, difficult game, whether it was our tactics or the players under-performing, things just didn't click but there's no need for panic changes, we know all these players are up to it. If it was down to me though, I'd have Amiri and Torabi ahead of Taremi all day every day. The Gooch is back though, lot of love there, that man's finishing will forever be a potent weapon.

I've been baffled all week as to why Ghoochanejad wouldn't be starting. He was an instant spark off the bench. Yes, the goal he scored was lucky because the goalkeeper was a moron, but he played well in the limited time he was on the field. I hope CQ starts him next week against China.

The issue there is Azmoun has that CF spot sewn up now and neither are really worth sticking in that deeper attacking position. 4-4-2 is an option of course but not the right one if we have any ambition of achieving something against the big boys at the World Cup.

The Montazeri-Hosseini duo is the best CB pair in Asia, funny thing is that many Asian (of course mainly Jap and Korea) CBs play in Europe but aren't half of the players these two are.

In all honesty, if luck wasn't on our side today, we would have drawn or even lost.

A draw would have been a more deserved outcome TBH, considering how both teams played.

Both goals were lucky goals. The first one due to mistake of the opponent (+ luckily falling into Ansarifard's lap) then kicked away by the Qatari defender (+ once again luckily falling on Gucci).
The second goal was also a bit of luck, since it was ARJ's left foot. The ball could have went any other direction to be honest.

In conclusion, TM didn't truly deserve this win at all. But we got the all important 3 points, which is all that matters in the end.

TM needs to show lots of improvements in the upcoming days/months.

Looks like emotions got the better of us. We also got carried away with all the talk of a sown up Qatar team and thought we are better than them. Only half way through the 2nd half did we start to play with cooler heads. We were lucky to win.
