Guys, I have to admit. At first, like most of you, I was very harsh and critical of TM for such a lackluster performance against Qatar, a team that we should beat with ease. But as the game went on, I realized that just like this wasn't the same TM team to play Qatar in the 2014 WCQ, This wasn't the same Qatar team that we had played in 2014 WCQ either!

What if I told you we weren't lucky? That instead, we played really good football and won a respectable 2-0 match? Well, that would be somewhat false because we are all evident last nights match against Qatar was an irritating one.

However, I think we are all underestimating Qatar's NT. Yes, they buy their players from overseas, yes they bribe their players to perform, and they may even pay off the refs (that I'm not 100% sure), but that is what makes them a decent team talent wise. You think these rich Qatari's would buy poor players? LOL

At the end of the day, I don't think we got lucky. If we were lucky, Jahanbakhsh would've scored the first half shot outside the box. If we were lucky, Dejagah would've continued his run in the box and scored a beauty. If we were lucky, Taremi would've nailed the bicycle kick. (well, even with luck I don't think Taremi would've scored LOL).

Last nights game was a game between two newly renovated teams, two great coaches, and one poor referee. At the end of the day, Gucci showed us why Mashhadis are 1000x more clutch than Tehroonis

Lol those of you who are hating on nekou for his actions are either a little too old, or stuck up little bitches. I LOVED seeing him do that to piss of the africans. It was literally the perfect way to finish the game HAHAHAH

Qatar had their Iran vs Argentina moment last night. However just like the Iran vs Argentina match, the cream always rises to the top.

no i just like having a bit of fun in my life. You care too much what other people think and want our players/staff to be seen as "well-mannered" to other people. Someone like nekou would laugh at w.e fine afc would give him, and so would I if it was me

There is NO such thing as luck. You either win or lose, and the scoreboard tells you who the better team was. Mental mistakes are part of the game, and the team that takes advantage of it, is simply an opportunist team. If scoring a goal in the 90th minute is just luck, then maybe teams should play 89 minutes instead. Heck, we would have tied Argentina if it weren't for that pesky 90th minute.

In the last 20 minutes of the game, we took control, and much of it had to do with our players becoming more familiar with each other. It goes without saying that the qatar team had a better preparation, and that showed in the first half. You will see a much more coordinated team in the China game.

^ the issue of luck is brought up not related to the time, but how it came about.
Meaning the keeper's mis-kick could have come at min 14 or 5 or 59, ... it still would have been called ''luck''.
why? simply because such mis-kicks dont happen often and 98 out 100 kicks would fly over these players' heads.

                    ...... we WON . 3 points at home . Crucial .

imagine if we get to qualify with a 1 or 2 point margin. This win here COULD be the difference.
The team never gave up. Even after they went up 1-0 they scored another. If it comes to goal difference, again, this win could be KEY.

Considering so many players JUST joined the squad, this was a good win against a decent opponent.
Qatar came here to get a point. They SHOULD have scored but wasted their chances (plus we have to credit our SOLID central defenders too).

We scored when we had the chances. They didn't . That's simple football.

                    Congrats to TM .

BUT ....... 3 things we gotta fix. :

                    1. Ansarifard is not TM material. . . AND . . . he should stop weating #10 considering the history of WHO has wore that shirt before for TM.
                    2. Ando .... age is catching up with one of our greatest players ever. After these qualifications (or may be even DURING) we need to find his replacement.
                    3. Taremi & Azmoun ... They need to play TOGETHER more.
                    4. Adidas ... while every team in the world is getting the NEW design (with the 3 stripes going down the side of the whole jersey from the armpit) we are stuck with old designs ?? - same as Wales in the Euro2016.
Still, great to see TM in Adidas after almost 40 years. The STRIPES need to reflect our country's flag. Can't wait to see the RED strip.

Congratulations to TM and to all Iranians worldwide .
                    Have a great day DOOSTAN.

Punished really? for Celebrating? If anyone should be punished is the qataris for grass rolling and paying off refs and bringing players from all around the world.. I'm glad Nekounam robbed it in. Last time I checked Celebration was very legal. Specially. against such a dirty team. Good Job Mr. Nekounam!

seriously guys. stop discussing and getting into arguments with eachother. lets celebrate instead. the win, the performance our players put on the field.. dispite all the grass rolling. we as fans behind the screens watching the match get so frustrated about the grass rolling they do.. and this time it got worse than last times. they started from minute 1 with grass rolling. so you should put yourselfs into the players his shoes and feel the anger inside of them that they have to witness such cowardly act by the qataris every single time. BIG kudos to our boys for managing to stay calm.

we always talk about our flaws and that we are at fault in the fight after the first goal. but if you see clearly javad just was cheering and one of those qataris got butt hurt and attacked him. look how they started it. 1st grassrolling.2nd punching nekounam and starting a fight.

anyway we won. 3 points in the bag. lets look at the other match and prepare ourselfs.

If the teams had changed places with everything else identical, some of the permanent critics would instead be "ashamed" of our constant grass rolling and not having enough character to tolerate an opponent celebrating a late win!

Don't doubt that for a second!

RUSSIA 2018 ASIAN QUALIFIERS FINAL ROUND: WHAT THEY SAID…..

                                / Sep 02 2016 /

Kuala Lumpur: A look at some of the best quotes to emerge following Thursday night’s Russia 2018 Asian Qualifiers Final Round action.
"I think it’s a wonderful thing to start the third round with a win away against one of the best teams in Asia. I’m very happy for the result and hopefully it gives us more confidence but at the end of the day it’s only one game and one step from ten and we haven’t achieved many things yet even with this win.”
United Arab Emirates head coach Mahdi Ali after overseeing a 2-1 defeat of Japan

"In the second half we scored two, we hit the post, Tomi [Juric] had a very good chance, their keeper pulled off a couple of great saves. All in all against a difficult opponent I thought it was a good start."
Australia coach Ange Postecoglou following his side’s 2-0 Group B win over Iraq

“We played well and we managed to score a goal which was enough for us while our opponents tried to go forward with counterattacks. We finished the match from one chance and this is football at the end of the day.”
A relieved Bert van Marwijk after Saudi Arabia had left it late to beat Thailand 1-0.

"In the last 15 to 20 minutes, it was frustrating to let China back into the game through our mistakes. In the end a comfortable game with us leading 3-0 in the second half became a difficult one. We were going well with 20 minutes left but we switched off and let in two goals. The important point is that we won a tough first game. We have to play well for 90 minutes and not just 70 minutes."
Korea Republic coach Uli Stielike on his team’s 3-2 success against China.

“We wanted to give our fans a win and we managed that. We are happy. I know we made some mistakes in our game and that Syria are a good team, who are well organized and disciplined. My players showed character too. This is the first time Uzbekistan have started the final round of qualifying with a win.”
Samvel Babayan, head coach of Uzbekistan, in the wake of a 1-0 win against Syria.

“We had a very difficult game. It was a tense and highly tactical match. It was obvious that Qatar were looking to take advantage of our weaknesses in the first half, therefore we had a difficult first half. We tried to open up the game in the second half and put Qatar under more pressure. We had better scoring chances in the second half and we really played better during the half.”
Iran’s Carlos Queiroz reflects on Team Melli’s dramatic 2-0 defeat of Qatar.

“We had a big match tonight and the performance was excellent. The turning point was the penalty that we conceded but before that we managed to have a good performance and gave our opponents a hard time. We have improved a lot and we played on the flanks in order to reduce the threat of Saudi Arabia. In football, a small mistake can cost you and hopefully we will learn from this match and change the situation in the next match against Japan.”
Kiatisuk Senamuang remains upbeat following Thailand’s narrow 1-0 defeat in Saudi Arabia.
