Who cares what they call it as long as they build the center.

CQ is a god, IFF is actually building something ??

Does anyone know whether Mehran Molkara still does commentary on games? I want to see his perspective on how TM has developed and the state they are in now. I liked his insight.

So reading CQ's comment's here, one can summarize about the friendlies:

1 - He says we need 13 friendly games
2 - He considers the last 2 qualifiers as part of the 13
3 - He says 2 friendlies will take place in Russia shortly before the WC itself.
4 - Doesn't want friendlies against the major teams (Brazil, England, Germany...)
One of the very few things I never liked about CQ was his refusal to play against stronger teams than us. I get that he is into the whole psychology thing, and yes it does work and make sense, but refusing to play against teams stronger than you is a big mistake when you have players who have never played outside Asia.
                  Team Meli Iran
                  Perspolis FC
                  Malavan Bandar Anzali

"I will never be able to say good bye to Iran. I have a feeling of belonging to this country and to the people." - Carlos Queiroz

The bigger teams want a stack of money to play friendlies with them, Brazil will want a $1M to play. Why should we do that when we are already struggling with funding.

It was exactly Shah's ostracizing of the religious sects (not to mention socialists, communists, intellectuals, and anybody that didn't agree with the Shah), that alienated so many and allowed for the revolution to occur, which left a power vacuum that was quickly filled by Khomeini upon Shahs' escape from Iran. Give me a break with all this backward monarchy and theocratic regimes (the Shah had enough blood on his hands too, don't forget Savak), both are atrocious. Stop looking to the past and look to a future: no monarchy, no religious rule, only true democracy.

This is sports forum but Mark my words. We will never have benevolent rulers like the Pahlavis for another 100 years. The Shah was no dictator. If he was he would have eradicated all the opposition you mention. These filthy Akhunds included. He proved he was no despot by opening the prison doors to these animals and then leaving the country to people who never appreciated what he did for us You and me included.

Wow dude, your understanding of history is quite skewed. Should talk with the families of some of the folks the "benvolent" Shah's savak tortured (who happened to be socialists who believed in Mossadegh's way of governing). Would recommend reading about how the Pahlavi's came to power...ie a coup of a democratically elected leader, with the help of the british and the americans. Knowledge is power, seek it out.
