World Cup Qualifier: China - Iran; Info, Updates and Live Reports (06.09.2016)
Interesting little read on how big this game is for China's footballing future.
http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/artic...-cup-tightrope
"A 3-2 loss to Korea Republic in the opening game of Group A last week means that a defeat in Shenyang could potentially leave China six points adrift of the top two spots that offer automatic progress to Russia in 2018.
Korea Republic were lucky to survive a second-half onslaught from China in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier as they held on for a 3-2 home victory.
With more than $526 million spent by Chinese Super League clubs in 2016, on famous foreign players as well as a state-run youth development program gathering pace, there has been growing optimism for the long-term future of the game in the world's most populated country.
In the short-term, however, much depends on a victory against a tough Iran team - even so early in qualifying.
China were trailing Korea Republic 3-0 with 20 minutes remaining but goals from Yu Hai and Hao Junmin forced the 2002 World Cup semi-finalists to hang on for the final whistle.
And coach Gao Hongbo wants his China team to continue where they left off in Seoul.
"If we can play against Iran with the same spirit as the last part of the last game then we can get a good result," he said.
"There are nine games remaining in the group and this is our first home game.
"We need to do well in front of our own fans if we are going to achieve our goal of qualifying for the World Cup.
China has only qualified for the World Cup once - in 2002.
In the other Group A games, Qatar host Uzbekistan while security issues mean Syria will play Korea Republic in Malaysia.
If China are already under serious pressure to win in Group A, then so are Japan in Group B.
The four-time AFC Asian Cup champions have qualified for the last five World Cups but had a shocking 2-1 home loss to the United Arab Emirates last week.
Japan head to Bangkok to take on a Thailand team that narrowly lost 1-0 in Saudi Arabia.
The UAE face another stiff test at home against Australia while Iraq and Saudi Arabia meet in the other game"

CQ again put all other teams before the best team in Asia that has not lost to an Asian side for 1,200 days!!!
Well, this is his style to send the ball to opponent field then win a psychological warfare, and also keep this in case, if team fails; he can claim that he was well aware of the failure due to blah blah....
MR. CQ with all respect and as your long time fan; I understand that you probably are going to park the bus and wish for the best! However, master, you may get results that way however such style of play will never prepare Iran for Russia 2018 to advance to 1/8 ever!
Other threat of such approach is your formation and the squad that is the opposite of your 2014 team. Defense definitely has weakened a lot specially on RB and LB while having awesome CBs. For how long the center defense wants to cover for the right and left backs? The team major advantage is now on great attacking and midfield strength. Against Asian teams, you may want to reconsider the formation. Anytime we have gone to China, historically we have scored many goals against them as we have superiority on Air, set pieces and individual qualities; while having lower speed.
CQ; how can you say the team of the rejects of the planet; Qatar has a better chance to qualify than our great team?!!! Well, while we know you are doing this to respect the opponent and make your players to be wise; however it may turn the Iranian fans against you. Please do not give too much credit to the opponents!! all the best. Best of luck to you and Iran...CheerssigpicSUPPORT TEAM MELLIIRAN- IRAN - ONLY IRAN
IRAN OUT OF AFC NOW!
IRAN WILL ROCK IN ASIA AGAIN IF IRI IS OVERTHROWN... MUBARAK, BIN-ALI, NOW IT IS THE TURN FOR SEID ALI

I hate it when we are playing park- the -bus games, in particular when we are doing it against asian teams. Qatar did play a defensive game in tehran, but they had their offensive moments very often.
So far I know TM is the only one among the asians powerhouses which do so.
Have barely seen koreans, japanese or austrialans doing this.
Dar halike mentality ma iraniha onsorosh kolan hojoomi hast !!!
I hope it wont be too much park the bus tommorow.
And I hate it as well the cheap football sologan: Win the home games and draw the away ones............

Ofcourse if this were GN, he would claim he could beat the qataris with a bunch of jenazeh in his lineup. Or if it were MK, he probably would have a bunch of jenazeh in his lineup.“It is easier to fool the people, than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain
