Below average performance. We didn't step it up, China was crap and we over-hyped them, from fans to CQ. Poor finishing and too slow transition from defense to offense, no sense of urgency whatsoever. It's a draw away from home but China was begging for us to beat them and we failed, these 3 points could've been important at the end of the qualifiers.

Good point away from home. China will go down like a sack of potatoes in Tehran unless they figure out how to play at this level. Iran looked tired but can't deny that they pretty much controlled the whole game.

Could we have won it in the second half? Yes. Could I have turned pro if I worked harder in my youth? Yes.

Happy with the point. To those who are serial complainers: stop whining and move on. 4 points out of two games with zero goals conceded is exactly where we want to be right now.

We played terrible! Thats no World Cup material! srsly!
Only positive take away for me was the defenisive work. And Teymourian ran and fought and gave 100% as usual. Shojaei had some decent moments.
Rest was terrible, final passes terrible, final shots terrible! Thats not WC material!!!

            rating, I give Teymourian 9 points, Beiranvand 9, Whole defense line 8, shojaei 7, and the rest I give 0 - 2!!!!
Thats not the way to go WC gentlemen!!!

              Beiranvand - 6 - Not challenged really.

Rezaeian - 3 - get out of TM and Persepolis please. Dumb. Just dumb.
Montazeri - 7 - solid, missed his playmaking
              Pouraliganji - 7 - solid
Mohammadi - 7 - great speed and fairly composed. Messed up a couple times, but considering his experience it was great.

              Teymourian - 8 - warrior,
              Ezzatollahi - 7 - solid d, bad attack
              Jahanbakhsh - 5 - too damn nervous
Shojaei - 6 - great first half, terrible in second
Amiri - 5 - Runs, but not fitness.
Azmoun - 6 - wasn't serviced well. Tries. A little angry today and nervous.

              ------------------------

              Hosseini - 7 - good but lucky
Torabi - 7 - appreciate his drive and appetite for attacking.
              Ghoochannejhad - 7 - Great guy. He's our supersub.

A good point and a much better display.
Those of you who are expecting TM to play gung ho attacking football away from home against a team that is trying to counter every play is an insane suicidal move. You have lost your minds if you think that's what should have been done.

If our forwards and wingers had finished or executed at least one of the plays in a better way we would all be screaming great win.
Overall it could have been better but I'm happy with the point.
TM must now be very careful against the 2 teams that everyone is expecting to be weak (Syria and Uzbekistan). They won't. Uzbekistan will challenge every ball and Syria will park the bus.

The team needs to learn how to fire on all cylinders and become ruthless with the attack.

Numerous moments of possession and threat were wasted by poor decision-making and quality from the forwards and a solid enough performance from the defence, no real stand-out performers. Mohammadi and Torabi look a bit too raw and inconsistent for starting spots, one moment they're pulling off some great skill and the next they're barely looking like professional footballers. A couple of poor finishes from Azmoun in the first half but that miss from AJ was something else.

I thought we played well, we definitely were the team that deserved to win. We created enough chances, mind you we are not a team that creates more than 3 or 4 chances a game. And we were robust defensively.

I think CQ's line up adjustments were well calculated. Mohammadi won himself the starting position today. He got the opportunity to do that because we went with a back line that could handle china's speedy through pass. We handled that aspect of their offense well and we only saw them try it 3 or 4 times in the game. Shojaei, I believe, had his best game in an Iran jersey today. He was mature in the CAM role and brought the younger players into the game effectively, he started looking like the errant Shojaei of old later in the second half but the sub for Gucci was good. Gucci is such a reliable player, every influence he has had on the play in both Qatar and China games bore danger for the opposition. He had one really clean cross that Torabi almost latched onto. Torabi had a much better game than Amiri and Jahanbakhsh.

Overall promising stuff, and a good result. I agree that everyone overhyped China, they pretty much suck, but you have to respect them for playing an open game. They were after the 3 points and were organized enough not to concede, although I feel like we created enough chances to score on them. JB missed a sitter, Azmoun screwed up a half-chance tak-be-tak, and usually one of those headers from Hosseini, PAG, Azmoun goes in. We were unlucky not to score. By the same token we were lucky we didn't get scored on because Ramin Rezaeian played this world cup qualifier match as if it were a toop pelastiki, gol koochik in his khale's kooche. His offensive runs were decent, but he had 3 major defensive slip ups, two in the dying embers of the game and was overall unreliable as a RB. Other than him, the only player who wasn't deserving of a starting position was Amiri, he is the classic PGL player who has two good seasons and then "oft mikone". Oh, and JB, when his going to show up for TM? Hopefully he's not on Shojaeian's timeline.

I enjoyed the game, I felt like we could've won, and think that CQ had the tactics right. I liked that he went to 4-4-2 when he brought in Gucci, but i recognize why 4-2-3-1 should always be our main formation, we simply can't play the defense we want to play with 4-4-2. If you play 4-4-2 you risk having someone like Ezzatollahi lose the ball in the middle of the pitch and giving the opponent an open run at your back four. I had the same problem when I used to play FIFA, I conceded too many goals with 4-4-2.

Beiranvand - 3 - looked shaky in every single situation he was put in. Punched a corner that floated into his hands, came off his line very uncertain of what he wanted to do, annd smacked away a shot that easily should have been caught. If China's forwards pressed up even a tad bit he would have conceded a few goals for sure, he is making elementary/fundamental mistakes.

Rezaeian - 5 - almost caused us to get scored on with his ridiculous back passes late in the game idk what the heck he was thinking. Other than that was ok, resembles heydari more and more every game. Tons of crosses for no reason although 1 or 2 of them were dangerous today. Still overall not convincing other than that he can run for days.

Hosseini - 7 - solid per usual. Not as active as last game though where he saved us 4-5 times. He had a few crucial tackles though, this guy always does his job.

PAG - 7.5 - our best defender today, didn't take any stupid risks like he sometimes does and got back in transition very well, his pace for a CB is great and he had some big time plays at the back and saved us from a goal or two today.

Milad Mo - 7 - huge upgrade from hajsafi. Went forward well on the counters and looked solid defensively aside from one slip up. Didn't give the Chinese wingers much time on the ball, he has to be the consistent starter

Ezi - 5 - back to back poor performances. Had no impact on the game and played a lot of silly long balls.

Ando - 6.5 - ok performance from Ando, did the dirty work in the middle of the pitch by coming up with good tackles and disrupting counter for the Chinese and getting ours started. His awareness and consistency is highly valued ATM

Shojaie - 8.5 - did literally everything we could have asked for aside score. He created 2-3 golden chances and we couldn't finish any of them, I feel sorry for him. His creativity is a huge asset
JB - 5.5 - was semi decent in the beginning but as the game went on he got poorer and poorer. Missed a golden chance set up by Masoud.

Amiri - 5.5 - no much of an impact. Didn't do anything in a position we have better alternatives, hasn't proven to be worthy of a TM starter IMO.

Azmoun - 4.5 - he was even worse than last game. Missed one or two really good chances and was whining all game to his mates to get him the ball instead of concentrating on doing other things up front. His head just wasn't in the game today.

Torabi - 6 - gave a mini spark off the bench with a bit of intensity and hunger off the bench and had a semi decent shot on goal that tested the keeper. Other than that not much of a difference was made by him

Montazeri - 7 - did well in the short time he played

Gucci - 6 - barely touched the ball

JB was terrible, his shooting, crosses, everything, Azmoun was also very selfish in few occasion. He thinks what, he is already Ali Daei? No one should feel safe about his place in starting line up. Gucci deserved to start..

btw, we got very lucky ref denied a 100% p.k for Chinese. I hope our boys learn a thing or two today from Chinese, imagine for second if we were in their place today?

I could not watch the whole game as it was at 4 am my time.

But from the important scenes of the games I gathered some negative and positive aspects.

I won't give numbers because I didn't watch the full match.

Beiranvand was awful, he caused 3 or 4 non dangerous scenes to become risky as hell.

it seems like besides rezaian, the entire defense played very well and contained chinas attack style. Mohammadi looked much better than Hajsafi.

Shojaei was creating danger and releasing the pass at the right moment today. If our finishing wasn't garbage today we could have easily scored 2 or 3 from just his passes. I would start him next game as well, he was very effective as CAM.

Teymourian had a decent game and its just a positive note overall that our captain is getting back into good shape and form, we will certainly need him in the big games. I hope they give him corners and not JB. JB takes corners like a 10 year old.

Ezatollahi and Azmoun almost seem like they are burned out? Could it be that the Champions league games and RPL games burned them out?

Jahanbakhsh needs to work a bit on his shooting focus.

Amiri no longer belongs anywhere near TM. he is toothless and one footed. Torabi was 50 times better.

I think we could have won the game if we started gucci, I think he would have scored one of shojaeis passes.
