Even though I was being negative about our result earlier, CQ still has ALOT of time to fix things.

For every time we play bad like we did against China, we can also play great like we did against Chile or even Japan.

This current crop of players have all shown glimpses of how effective they can be, but CQ has to ensure we have great performances more consistently.

I still haven't given up hope on a round of 16 in the next WC!

After watching the highlights again, I can easily say that we didnt fail in creating chances.

We had more than 5 or 6 great header chances which unfortunately just didnt connect well.

Im glad we have shojaei because he gave 3 or 4 very slick passes which on a good day would have been converted.

Torabi is dangerous and should be given more minutes.

Bring back ghafouri, rezaein is retarded.

I liked MiMo's performance aside from his crossing, speedy and more useful than Hajsafi. Agree with everyone else that Azmoun, JB, and all our attacking players were pretty lackluster today, though Shojaei did create some good chances with his passes that maybe would have ended up in goals on a a better day.
Sometimes we give Dejagah a hard time on this forum but tbh I think we really missed his forward play today. Glad his injury isn't too serious (unlike Montazeri who sadly is) because we're gonna need him in October against a tough Uzbekistan side away and against S. Korea at home. Overall though it's not the end of the world and we do have 4 out of a possible 6 so far so don't see any reason to overreact to this result even though I am myself disappointed that we didn't capitalize on a poor China side.
They will be better in the next games for sure, and I have no doubt they'll qualify for the WC once more.

Iran tied China today (yes China). Guess what, half the members in this forum doubt Iran will qualify.

Let's get over our self-defeatist attitude, take the point from today's match and move on. Next time, the 50-50 chances will go our way, as long as we keep creating them, which I don't doubt we will.
          Haha I love you!

Was this in Iran ?? Because I watched the game on IRIB3 from US and the game was televised.

Ok so I was in the air when this game happened, I saw the result in the airport and then just watched the highlights now.

It's pretty obvious that the only reason we didn't win this game was our finishing. We created heaps of chances, the finish was just not there.

Nothing tactical really. Jahanbakhsh's crosses were also good from highlights. I didn't see most of the things that were complained about here but then again I only watched the highlights.

Not really concerned anymore to be honest. On another night Azmoun would have probably had a brace in the first half.

No unfortunately. They may put it Lebanon which would not be good considering the political situation.

Oh, for sure bro and against stronger teams, taking away 2 points from them is almost as good as taking away 3.

But against weaker teams like China that realistically don't have a chance of qualifying, taking points away from them becomes less relevant than securing as many points as we can.

Don't get me wrong, the tie yesterday wasn't a disaster but it piles on extra pressure and god forbid, it may come back to bite us in the rear end at the end just like Canada's away tie against El Salvador meant the end of the road.

Although I agree with your other post Diz jaan, Mexico had already qualified for the final round and this was their way of making sure Canada doesn't qualify.

The gauv bandi among latin American countries in CONCOCAF is as bad as the Arabs in Asia unfortunately - otherwise they bead Honduras away convincingly and could have beaten them by 3-4 goals in Mexico if they really wanted.

Mexico is already advancing regardless of result. There was even talk that some teams are getting cashouts to toss games in concacaf. El Salvadorian players who are already eliminated made it public they were bribed to lose to Canada. This was a warmup at best for Mexico, something we can only wish for TM...rather than being on edge to the last minute.

As someone who was not too excited seeing Shojaei's name on the team-sheet, I am appalled at the criticism Masoud is getting.

He was hands-down our best attacking player in China. Almost all of our attacks and creativity came through him. Yes, he had a couple turnovers, but that's what happens sometimes when you attempt to dribble by someone or try to create something out of nothing. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but they are risks you need to take if you want to create scoring opportunities. His work ethic and defensive contributions have also improved drastically under CQ (if it hadn't, he wouldn't even be invited to TM), which deserves recognition.

Torabi himself had at least 2-3 turnovers in his limited 10-15 minutes, and I don't see anyone complaining about him (and rightfully so), because he also was trying to give us a spark and you can't expect to be successful 100% of the time.

The bias towards Shojaei on this board is absurd. Go watch the highlights and look at how many chances he created. I was beginning to think he was done with TM but yesterday he showed that he still has a lot to contribute.

Who cares of others? The others you quoted qualified always for WC. It isn't the case of Iran (2010 and 2002).
