IRIB 3 has upgraded its channel to HD during the Olympics.
But I don't know if the devices in Iran have access. When I was in Iran, we couldn't receive its HD channel, while some other devices could.Comment

US sanctions prevented Iran from buying good equipment. Now once sanctions were lifted things are starting to happen and money is being allocated to sports broadcasting. Thats why Navad is so impressive now w HD filming and modern equipment.
Same thing with planes. Until recently the sanctions blocked Iran from buying new planes, even new parts to fix damaged stuff. Finally aircrafts from 30 yrs ago are being pushed aside for modern Boeing and Airbus planes.Comment

thats what happens when you have to pay 4x the amount of everyone else in the world....these guys cant even buy half these HD equipment from major companies...so they have to go through loop holes or 3rd party vendors to buy it and sell it to them.
