    Hello my Iranian friends.

I do not know why but I was very happy when I learned that we are in the same group with Iran again. There will be very powerful struggle in Tashkent because this game is a revenge match for Uzbekistan, and Iran needs more scores. You will not be bored.

The fact that we could not go to the World Cup last time was the fault of the coach appointed after the loss against Iran in Tashkent 4 years ago. Everything went wrong then and he failed. But today we have a new coach who knows how to motivate his players. If in doubt, look at all the latest matches of Uzbekistan. I am sure Babayan is in the right direction and we will finally achieve our goal.

    Olg'a Oz'bekiston!

We are culturally closest to the Uzbaks.....in fact...we Iranians still think,The Samarghand and Bokhara are Iranian cities !!
      ..
as for our group and who wins.....it is premature to count points too early...,in the end, there is no way around it..for any team who wants to go to the World cup...it must defeat the main opponanats.....the top three Iran/Uzbaks,and S.korea...who ever among these three gets the most point from each others ( not the other teams )..will be in Russia.

Uzbekistan are in a great from and definitely the favorites at their home stadium, but Iran are very unpredictable and a really tough nut to crack for the opponents.

Besides I strongly believe these previous two matches served as preparatory matches for our young squad which will surely better gel together for the Uzbek encounter. In both matches we were the dominant side and controlled the game but our finishing left much to be desired.

It's gonna be a very exciting match which will determine the shape of this group and can be the turning point for both teams. 3 points will be ideal for us, but I'll be happy with a single point as well.

              Go Team Melli.

Uzbekistan have always played better with a better game flow compared to Iran! Even since 10-15 years ago! In fact their playing style is very much European and they have a very entertaining passing game! Their only problem has always been the last finishing touch! If they improve that they'd be very difficult to beat! The only reason we have won most of our games against them is I think due to our experience.

I would say China is the weakest team in our group despite the fact that they are improving very fast, they are still the weaker side. In fact, Qatar was and is a strong side. We, Uzbekistan, got 6 points from two dangerous and strong opponents, Syria and Qatar. Qatar suffered a blow from Iran and Uzbekistan due to last-minute goals, they lost not because they are weak, but because we know how to beat them. They will put up a tough fight against others now that they have lost two matches in a row. And that is good for Uzbekistan. We would love to see Qatar denying points to Korea.

I see our chances to be excellent now that we will enter into crucial matches against Iran and Korea with a two-point advantage. If Uzbekistan wants to qualify, we must see Korea and Iran lose points and others have already done it for us, you already lost points before we even met. Both, Korea and Iran are now forced to only win against us in order to go in front of us in the race.

Korea was perfect in the third stage, but Syria showed us they are not that perfect at the moment. Iran is strong but seems to have consistency issues at the moment, beating the likes of Qatar is good but drawing with the likes of Oman, Turkmenistan, and China indicates that we may have a good chance of earning points from you. Moreover, you seem to have goal-scoring problems as well. I do not think Azmoun is a great striker, I think Gucci is more creative and unpredictable. But that is none of my business.
Always good to get another perspective Ahad.

I agree that Syria are no pushovers. I tend to think that they may throw a few spanners in the works for the more favoured nations.

China are by far the weakest. They appeared to be the away side in our game against them. Suspect they played us based on reputation rather than form.

Qatar are indeed a good side but I suspect one more defeat (which is highly likely away to Korea) and they'll be fighting for no more than 3rd place or more realistically pride.

Iran does indeed have consistency issues. If you didn't know it already our federation has been a joke for many years (this may change with the appointment of a new president) and so our preparation has typically tended to be far from ideal. Looking back at the last WC we struggled to arrange decent pre-tournament friendlies which is surprising for a nation that has qualified for the WC. So, I think we are all hoping that the two past matches are viewed as preparatory. Sounds crazy I know but that has tended to be the way with Iran. Hopefully, times will change!

As for Azmoun he has been described as an Ibrahimović style of player. So ... he needs players to get the ball to him. In the past two matches we failed miserably to do that. In fairness he is also 21. We are all hoping that he will get more playing time domestically in Russia and of course in the CL which will help his development and confidence.

With hindsight Gucci was not deployed in the best manner. I think CQ will have taken note of the impact he made when coming on in both matches so I hope he finds a way to utilise him in our future matches.

Personally, I'd be interested to hear more about some of your better players. Your #10 looks pretty good.

meh..., i saw most of uzbeks game at home vs Syria and can't say i was too impressed..!
they've managed to get somewhat lucky (like we did vs gutter) and score late winners so far in order to lead the group, but their current team seemed a far cry (quality and capability wise) from their 2014 WCQ team..!
they seem to have a lot of new young blood injected in their team now, but they look raw and vulnerable and as Uzbeks have been seemingly forever, they are alway good bet for Chocking when the wcq campaign nears the final stages and stakes are risen..!!

Highly doubtful of their ability to score on us in the game coming up ..! and they will need lots of luck avoiding a loss..!
in fact their best thing they have got going for themselves to beating us is Benny William's selection to ref that game..!! i fear that asshole will do everything in his power to ensure our defeat at Tashkent and is looking eagerly ahead to One last big Pay-day (from ayrabs) to hang his officiating boots from international scene too and retire comfortably..!

they sure can, the seemed to be a solid (international) Team and now their backs are against the wall and they need the full 3 points to get back into WCQ contention ..! I think they beat SK at their home last WCQ (14) too..!!? besides this SK team seems weaker overall than their WC14 Qualifying team too with a kiri keepers and D line capable of conceding on any chance near their goal..! they will struggle against Qutter's size and physicality..!

so far the Only Asian teams that seem to be a Legit quality WCQ contenders are, Japan, followed by Aussies..!! we could easily be the 3rd if we can workout our Offensive Transition issues and provide some decent scoring chances for Azmoun (whom regardless of his Tired and outa sink recent features) who is very capable of scoring Vital goals deep into WCQ campaign..!

Qatar mentally broke down even before we scored. They are overburdened by their own unrealistic expectations and played under huge pressure. Let us not forget that they lost 6 out of 30 possible points so far. They are still in the game.
They are sort of stronger than Syria and China, so I am hoping they can force S. Korea drop 2 points. I just want to see Korea draw as many games as possible before we face them.
