imho, I actually believe ITS BEST FOR IFF & CQ to NOT MAKE A BIG DEAL of this selection..!!

From what i recall from AC15's incident, all the TV experts and former players who had first hand experience of Benny's Officiating said, that He was a Very VENGEFUL Ref, who was Extremely Sensitive to Criticism of his Officiating..!!

In other words, if IFF/CQ were to make a big stink of his selection for this game, and fail to succeed to have him replaced, then He Will Make it his Mission to FK us over with his calls...!!

this is one of those instances where Carlos needs to approach with his "Hendooneh zire Baghal" commentary..!!

He had it out for Iran especially after the complaints after the Iran-Bahrain game - something even Australian commentators and analysts said he does.

This guy refused to come to Iran to officiate a ACL game we can easily use that to our advantage and complain to AFC and remind them that he is biased towards us

He doesn't have a grudge over Iran he's just an extremely poor and incompetent ref. we have this trend of blaming and fighting refs that even goes to queiroz and the players. They always yell and fight with the ref when a call doesn't go our way as if that's going to do anything. As long as the players are smart and don't do anything stupid it should be fine. Maybe just a few yellow cards that normally wouldn't be yellows but that could go both ways.

Guys, where are you seeing any official sources confirming this news? The only place I read this are Iranian newspapers, which I generally don't believe. If you take a look at FIFA's link to the match, they have no information other than the date/time/location. If this news was official, I believe we would see his name listed as the official on this page:

Also, isn't it true that since this is a FIFA WCQ, it is FIFA, not AFC, that has jurisdiction over the match/ref, etc.? AFC supplies the refs, but FIFA ultimately makes the selection. In other words, if Taj/Kafashian are going to protest, they have to protest to FIFA, not AFC, no?

I just don't see how an Aussie newspaper, quoting Aussie officials, announce and comment on Williams's retirement ..... and then 2 months later there is an unconfirmed announcement that he will officiate a WCQ?!

To arrange for visas and travel and such.

Saket - Director of TM confirmed that Ben Williams is the referee in an interview.

That said, why do we care so much? We should be playing to win, enough so that the referee cannot influence a game.

I believe CQ is just putting pressure on the referee to perform well and for Iran's favor.
