I actually think Shojaei is more impressive than JB. Except for the goal against Qatar JB has not been so impressive so far and has lost many chances. Shojaei is creative and did some good moves against china. So far Azmoun and JB have not lived up to the expectation. Gucci, Dejagah and shojaei have been greate.

According to iranian medias, Dejagah will miss both games against Uzb and Korea and even though I'm one of those who often critize him because he is far from his old self, he is still a crucial player for our WCQ and I'm sure we will miss him big time if he doesn't make it.
About Shojaei, he is in good form and is playing well for both TM and his club but can we say the same about our domestic players? They're either injured, or totally out of form and warming the bench for their club so I think we don't have any other choice than starting Shojaei (even though I'd prefer him to be used as a sub)... Maybe Shojaeian but he's still too inexperienced to start in such an important away game.
By the way, I'm mostly worried about which players will be used in RB and LB position!

I have exactly the same opinion about Shojaei.
I do not think Shojaeian is anything especial.

For left back position, I use Mohammadi for next two games.
For right back position, I know many of you guys do not like it but I use Khosro Heydari for Uzbekistan game. He was the best Eteghlal player in last 6 weeks. He is in form now.

Sometimes he scores. So he should be able to play as AM. We have no good player in that position. Shojaei is garbage. Greece league is nothing especial. He performed ok only against the bottom table team of the Greece league which is worse than IPL/Qatar league teams. I know CQ is going to start the line up against Uzbekistan with him most likely but I would have dropped him from squad long time ago. There are more in form and useful players in IPL than him now like Iman Mobali. After Torabi, he was the second best IPL player in last 6 weeks. Mosalman did not proof yet that he is a reliable AM in international games. So I test Jahanbahsh in CAM and use Torabi as right winger. Why not?

Yeah, CQ might surprise us and use Jahanbakhsh as CAM but it would be pretty risky since he has never played there before (for both TM and AZ). I also think that Heydari should be our RB vs UZB and Korea , unless Ghafouri gets in better form but it seems unlikely! Mohammadi has been a bit disappointing in his last few games but he's definitely an upgrade over Hajsafi (as LB) anyway

I also think Ghoochannejhad should start over Azmoun against Uzbekistan.
Roozbeh Cheshmi can start training with Esteghlal after Zob ahan Game. If he gains his form in next 2-3 months, do you guys think he is a good candidate to replace Teymourian in the future or not?
IMO the following players do not deserve to be in the squad:
1. Alireza Haghighi
2. Ehsan Hajsafi
3. Ramin Rezaeian
4. Masoud Shojaei
5. Mehdi Taremi

Shojaei is garbage and personally I do not want to see him even as a bench player in the team. Dejagah is not in form and when it comes to the final round of WCQ he is usually injured. Mosalman, Rafiei, and Shojaeian have not proven anything in international level yet and I cannot blame them because they have not been given chance to prove themselves.
Note that instead of useless long camps in Italy, Armenia, etc we could have friendly matches against national teams at least second/third tier Asian/African national teams and give chance to the players such as Rafiei, Shojaeian, Mosalman, etc in those games to build into bigger games. I also think Iman Mobali and Soroush Rafiei deserve to be in the next squad.

Cheshmi is a good CB prospect, not DM.

I dont understand why people want Heydari at RB. He isnt the bandaid at RB we need.
Let alone I think if Denisov and Rashidov both had good games we'd get murdered down our right and lose with multiple goals.
Uzbekistan game is about winning 50/50s and crunching challenges. Their midfield is aging a bit and we need to torch them on counters.

According to the documentary I just watched on Alireza Jahanbakhsh in the other thread, Carlos Queiroz has confidently given him the go at goal.
To have the head coach show confidence in him and support him to take shots from outside the box gives the fans a confidence boost as well. Especially knowing the kind of player Alireza is and what he is capable of from outside the box.
