Sorry for the offtop, but Syria is not that weak.
Right before the war began, it was one of the up-and-coming teams in the continent. I remember them giving tough times to Japan, Korea, etc. Yes, the war has messed everything up in their country. Maybe they are not at their best, but I noticed this with Iraq team as well, no matter how horrible the tragedies of war can be, it also creates a situation where players stick together and even spend more time together than usual. We are lucky if we can gather our team together 2 days before the match. But these guys have become basically refugees and they tend to spend more time together. Even though the quality of training drops, mutual understanding and team spirit seems to flourish. Don't underestimate. They almost got us in Tashkent, we barely beat them 1:0 and Koreans were held to a draw.

Every opponent is difficult...but there is no reason to get psyced about the game...we are a better team than we were last time we met them, we have a better coach than they do, we have higher rank in FIFA than they do,We have stronger history in football and fans,and we have beaten them 4 times,drew 3,and lost only once.....if any one should be more Psyced about the game,it is the Uzbaks....,if all goes normal,there more chance for TM to win,than the Uzbaks.

Syria has always been a tough team. Even in the 90s with Daei and Bagheri and Azizi we would only tie or beat them 1-0.

Im extremley worried for this match, I cannot stress it enough, Uzbekistan are the favorites and we are the under dog. Hope we can play our game and get a good result in this situation

Syria has never won Asian cup or has never qualified for world cup. All they do is to work out some defensiv strategy. At times they have sucsses like
against south korea.
I predict UZ will lose against South Korea, China and Iran. They lost to China in australia. Why would it be different now? Most of their players play in China.

Some of you are giving Uzbekistan way too much credit. They never got past play-offs losing against teams like Jordan and Bahrain, it says something about their true potential at times when it matter. Their European playing style gives us and other top teams in AFC trouble because we are not used to it, but the end of the day it is a 5th ranked Asian team at best. Nonetheless we should not underestimate them, but still we must go for the full 3 points considering our qualities and experience and win them if we want to play a meaningful role in the World Cup.

I have seen Uzbekistan play, and they are not the mighty machine you guys make them out to be. They beat Qatar 1-0 on a last minute goal in a game they were getting dominated and everyone went crazy.

Exactly, I watched the Qatar - Uzbekistan match closely, Qatar was dominating them completely at some point and was even unlucky to not score a goal. Uzbekistan's winning goal came out of nowhere.
