The Russian style of football serves better for TM...Iranian futsal seem to always come up short against European tactical, better coaching based futsal..( the russian style of futsal,is more like uzbakistan futsal, which is not a bad futsal, than European style )...the Russian and south American and Iranian style,is less so..that is to say, they are less " coaching dependent "....so,I believe,TM will play against Russia, much better than what they played against Spain.

Simply look at our defense and offense. Look up the fifa stats and see we have one of the worst defense in whole competition while our offense is in the mid level.

I predict the next match outcome as following

Iran wins the match in 40 min %20
Russia wins the match in 40 min %40
Iran wins in extra time %10
Russia wins in extra time %15
          Iran wins in penalties %10
          Russia wins in penalties %5
where this stats came from?we lost 10 times, won 6 and drawn 10, but the last time we won 3-1, and we can beat them, thier best player is not playing also

Our defense is really shaky and we only manage to score a goal out of 5 opportunities. We are really slow in creating an opportunity during our offensive possession but this is the reality of our futsal team now.
They really passed the expectations and I hope that if we lose, it won't turn into a coach or players bashing. They were great since the beginning.
Maybe this is exactly what we need.... a relatively poor team.

Remember that whenever we have a ''great'' team, we always choke or they finish below expectations. But now that we have a ''so-so'' team, nobody is putting a watermelon on their arms so there is less pressure for them to perform. That's why I think we made it so far, because nobody really expected it.

I don't know if this is good or bad.. but the referee for the Iran - Russia game is Nurdin Bukuev from Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet republic. Here is an article about the referee from back in 2014 in the-afc website:
Kuala Lumpur: Nurdin Bukuev of Kyrgyzstan was recognised as the most outstanding AFC Futsal Referee in 2013 and received a plaque of recognition during an AFC Futsal Referees Course in the Malaysian capital on Sunday.
Bukuev was a Kyrgyzstan national futsal player in 2005 before finding the whistle and started officiating matches continentally during the 2007 AFC Futsal Championship.

In 2008, he officiated in both the qualifying and final stages of the 2008 AFC Futsal Championship, before foraying into the club futsal arena by officiating in the 2010 AFC Futsal Club Championship .

The years 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 were also busy times for Bukuev who officiated in both the national and club competitions of the AFC.

Speaking after collecting his plaque from AFC Futsal Referee Instructor and Member of the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee Matsuzaki Yasuhiro during the closing ceremony of the course, the 33-year-old referee said:

“This moment is very exciting for me. I didn’t expect this recognition and would like to say that is a surprise and at the same time a great honour and responsibility. Since I started my international refereeing career, I’m always proud to be part of the Asian referees’ family. I’m always proud to represent my country and also Asia in world competitions.

“For me, refereeing is not only a matter of sport. It is also a big opportunity to get lessons on human relations and knowledge of new countries with their history, customs and unique features. Every time I get an appointment and officiate matches, I come to one conclusion that despite what I know, I understand that I don’t know anything. I mean the learning process never ends.

“Now, AFC does a lot to develop futsal and put great efforts to make futsal more popular in Asia and make Asian futsal recognised in the world. We as referees should also contribute all possible efforts to support and assist AFC to achieve these goals. How can we do this? We should just do our job better than before.

“I consider this recognition as a big advancement for me. It will motivate me to improve as a futsal referee. This is a responsibility. Finally I would like to say that only a small part of my merit is in this recognition. The biggest part of it is yours, my dear friends, referees, our teachers and respected instructors and of course all AFC staff.”

.....they may be former soviet republic...but they are culturaly and religously closer to us Iranians than to the Russians.beside, they would not have seperated from the soviets had they loved the Russians so much.

Iran is a very solid underdog going into the semis.
They have already knoced out one big favorite so they sure can do it again.

Trust me for traveling to these ex-soviet countries that the new generation is usually really Russian oriented. Some even speak only Russian between themselves in the biggest cities.

Why does it even matter? According to the article Kiarash mentioned he seems to be good unbiased ref. I couldnt't care less if he is sovjet or not. I expect him to be fair and unbiased.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

I am not insulted since it's very good odds to bet on Iran who as we know can
compete with any of these teams. But the general betting public dose not have
the inside info we have and they think Iran is a fluke like Iceland in the Euros.
So the bookies play them for suckers!
