What's funny is that after our game vs China and Uzbekistan's two wins people were saying we should be happy with a draw for this game. Hell, someone even opened a thread saying we had a 5% chance of winning this game..
For a moment there I thought we were about to face Germany, not Uzbekistan..

When Uzbek team was singing their national anthem, I could recognize many words.

I wish Uzbek and Iran to go from Group A.

As there is individual rating(s), there should be one thread with team rating because Football is a team sport.

As a team, Iran played okay and the result is great. Korea will come to Tehran having gained six yellow cards, which one played was ejected due to two yellow cards.

I want our players to be fair and not to get into fights. Biravand was hit in the face but he played without complaining.

          Tabrik for the win.

Was a calculated, no nonsense game plan that didn't risk much and relied on some measured occasional attacks that didn't compromise our control over the midfield.
We were pretty much in control of the game and really denied the Uzbeks of any serious venue to threaten us.

Not the kind of performance that would attract and dazzle the neutrals. But safe and stable enough. Especially for an away game.

We could have come out with better margin had some of our attackers used sense and a bit of sacrifice. Especially Taromi who increasingly is showing we ought to be looking elsewhere for a reliable striker alternative.
And had Azmoun had the sense to pass instead of trying to showboat after a nice counterattacking team move that saw some tight passing between players, we would have seen another goal or two.

I jut don't know what exactly post Hajsafi was operating. Was it LM? With Amiri already as LW? It sure wasn't a DM. it looked weird. But the mere fact that he was used at midfield instead of defense, shd be applauded.

RGN is a very classy player and Azmoun can certainly learn a lot from him.

EZ showing a good performance against a physical team shows he's settled into his role. Which is simply marvelous news for us.

We really didn't miss Montazeri as EZ and PAG/Hosseini trio did a great job of mopping up threats from middle and depth. And our fullbacks looked competent enough to block most of the uzbeks' forays. The few that got through, the trio cleaned up competently.

The away three points is a very crucial issue that will surely help us in the long run. We need a couple of away wins to cement our qualification.
My only gripe is seeing the lowly Syrians winning in China. Something that we shd have done with ease and with a good margin.

He was playing DM doktor joon... he basically replaced Ando in this match and I think he did well actually. Shojaei was CAM a bit to the left with Amiri LAM and Terami RAM.

BTW, UAE is beating Thailand 2-0, so it looks very likely the 3 teams in Group B will be fighting for the 2nd position with 6 points each after today. I'm glad we're not in that group!

On Hajsafi post, in a 433, that would make him a CM. Still not really his ideal post, but a darnside better than LB

We also saw CQ had a strategy and slight nod to our next game vs. Korea, with a few switches in the starting line up. Keep Azmoun, JB and Ando fresh for a game where control of midfield is key(Ando) and where the opponents' suspect defense (Azmoun) especially in width (JB) will provide good opportunities for us.

Very well executed by our guys today, played a very solid game except for the last 15 minutes or so in the 1st half where we sat back a bit too much.

Much improved from our last two games, we looked very diciplined and left almost no holes in any area of the pitch unlike the matches vs China and Qatar, no space and no time on the ball for the Uzbek players today which is why they had to settle for long distance shots - none of which even made Beiranvand flinch.

Could have easily scored another goal or two (both reza and amiri missed sitters) and masoud had another great game as far as creating chances is concerned (his primary job) but again we weren't that good at taking advantage of our chances, that is our only worrying area for me IMO bc we know in a game like SK we are not as likely to get these kinds of chances.

                        Ratings:

Beiranvand - 7 - did not have to move much as I mentioned, however, he was very good at exiting the 6 yeard box and had some good catches. no shaky moments from him today so thats a step up from the last two games.

Rezaeian - 8 - minimal stupid crosses from him today (I only counted 1 ) and played much more smaller passes and made far less silly fouls today. Very good performance, it's games like this that reminds us of the guy's potential.

Hosseini - 8.5 - didn't let a ball go by him and didn't give an inch of space to the uzbek forwards. this man is just amazing for someone his age especially, I dont need to elaborate any further.

PAG - 7.5 - great job of frustrating geynrikh. moves well in transition from defence to offense and vise versa. His last two TM games have been great,

Mohammmadi - 6.5 - covered a lot of ground like rezaeian but not as efficient and in tune with his mates as much as ramin. stumbled on a couple of balls but nothing really concerning or impressive. definitely our best option in that area.

Ezzi - 7 - played his role well, made life hard for the uzb midfield and forwards looking to break through our box and moved well on and off the ball. a few important tackles from him.

Hajsafi - 6.5 - surprisingly was much better defensively than offensively today. blocked a rocket late in the second half that honestly might have gone in if it wasn't for him. weak from set pieces though, overall ok but he can do better.

Shojaie - 7.5 - not as good on counters as he could have been but nonetheless he still created a decent number of chances and of course assisted the goal. He is becoming mr. reliable, he was the man getting the ball moving around the pitch

Amiri - 4 - god awful. not TM material should have scored a goal and slowed us down offensively. didn't make an effort to hit the ball to the flanks or do anything productive. this is his 3rd-4th lackluster TM performance in a row....crazy to think CQ prefers this garbage over Torabi

Reza - 5 - missed a good chance and missed a sitter. he runs a lot and puts a lot of pressure on defenders but other than that didn't really have a positive impact.

Sardar - 5 - wasteful today. could have scored a couple of goals but looked flat the whole time he was on the pitch.

Hopefully this win boosts our spirits vs SK, while their D looked vulerable today they looked decent offensively. I'm confident our D can hold it down thouugh, we jsut cant be as wasteful!

I don't understand the love CQ has for Taremi. He needs to give a chance to Shahbazzadeh

Well, Shahbazzadeh can barely make the bench for Alanyaspor so I don't think he will get a chance anytime soon

Pure work rate, that's all. He was very poor today, but runs his ass off and supports the defense, usually disturbs opponent defense regularly too
