Server too busy

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well.

Congrats on the big win today. I know you are all as happy as I am. Let's hope for three more points in Azadi next week.

The reason I made this thread is that its kind of frustrating seeing the "server too busy" message during the most important times of our football. Of course, I appreciate this site and what Kamran has done for the Iranian football community for 20 years, but quite honestly we need another option.

With your permission, I would like to propose a solution: I can activate a forum on paatoop.com so when the server is too busy here, we can overflow to that forum. Please let me know your opinions and concerns, and if you want anything in particular, and I will talk to my web-admin and make it happen.

Let's be honest, this is not the first thread about this problem - but it is how it is. As long as the majority are not willing to donate some money, webmaster can’t constantly upgrade the server. I bet none of us would be willing to spend so much money like webmaster has done over the years from his own pocket.

I'm just suggesting a solution for such times where you NEED to be able to access a forum and share information. If we use an overflow forum it may solve everything. Just an idea.

I know bro., that's why I thanked your post for providing an alternative. Just was talking in general, because we unfortunately do have some ignorant guys thinking differently.

I kind of like this place, why don't we start a mini-fundraiser or something with a set goal to upgrade servers?

Why not use Reddit instead? A lot of people already have reddit accounts and it's way more reliable than most forums. Whoever decides to moderate it will have full control over it's appearance as well.

I use reddit for about 95% of my discussions. Is there a thread that is actually popular for Iranian soccer. https://www.reddit.com/r/teammelli/ is dead

Yes you are correct, we need an alternative, but I think that the server protects itself from overload by limiting access to certain parts of the forum, this is either done manually or automatically through a DDoS type service.

It just simply means the server does not have enough bandwidth to support everyone logging in, sure an upgrade is a solution... but I think the forums should be closed during match time to prevent emotional posts and overload on the server. Instead we should work to create a simple chat that everyone can log into and use during match times.

Only good option is, as has been suggested, to upgrade the servers. To move to another site is detrimental to this place, even if it it as a precautionary measure to begin with. Plus, reddit makes my eyes bleed and it's probably good for the attention span of this generation to attempt to concentrate on a football match once in a while

I sometimes visit /r/soccer and /r/iran and there is some discussion but not a lot. Currently, there is no /r/pfdc. Someone can create it and build it. I've built a subreddit before and didn't do a great job, so I don't think I'd be the best choice.

Two suggestions. We use the chat feature of the forum on game days and close the rest of the forum. We can make a sticky thread with the chat link for every game so we don't forget or we set up a gofundme account with a actual target so we know how much money we have to donate for upgrades.

Guys, I know it is frustrating but you know how many crashes I dealt with during all these years? I have limited the amount of hits to the forum to keep the site alive and not crashing as then I have to work on it to bring it back and it is just extra work. I know most people are so emotional they want to post something right away but thinking that we are already paying 300 per month for this server which I recover some back through the ads but not much to be honest to even thinking of an upgrade right now. We have tried the donation and etc, but only a few will do it and it will soon be forgotten again. I would love to have the best server but the reality also is that people only show up during the games and they want a solid server then and only for those match days but this server does fine for our daily hits and normal hits and upgrading for one match a month or even less is not that wise. BUT if I win a lottery I promise you guys I will get the best server but honestly, I have done enough.

Hope you guys understand that it is great to have everything, but keeping and preserving them is the hardest part. I have tried my best for the past 20 years and hope I have done ok.

Kamran Jan, Can you please let me know the specification of your dedicated server? Processor, RAM, HD, OS, Allocated Banwidth, If it's 100mbps port or 1gbps port? How many IPs? Are you guys using CDN for your nameserver? I may be able to help out and offer some good solutions.
