Not going to post much here anymore but: we haven't lost (officially) since 2012 in normal + extra time vs. Asian teams. That's 29 straight games. Yet we still have discontents. Unbelievable.

I added that in there just for clarity, later on. His question was legitimate. Obviously, we have lost official matches vs. likes of Bosnia and Argentina, and friendlies like Sweden in the past 4 years. But against Asian teams - spotless last 4 years, inshallah it keeps up vs. South Korea this Tuesday and we win.

We defend as a team, we nullify the oppositions own plans and force them into a disjointed, stuttering performance and most importantly we keep clean sheets. When we score a goal, we hold and win.
Look at the tables we are the only team after these 3 games to have not conceded, this is a huge achievement and very similar to 4 year ago.
        great job CQ and TM..
Tactically the best in Asia??!!! According to what statistics?!! The fact that we hardly receive goals, has more to do with our playing style which is very defensive (in some places, including in Iran some 10 years ago they would call it boring)! but how is our offence? Do we score a lot of goals? Because best tactic in Asia should not only be about receiving few goals but also scoring a lot of it!

Even if Japan, S. Korea and Australia would go all defensive, they would probably have the same stats as us, if not better! I would be very careful calling it tactically best in Asia!

^My response to your Mr. Sly is that Iran in AFC is like what the Spurs were in the 2000's in the NBA. Not sexy to watch, but a group mentality with some veteran leaders showing the ropes. I personally love it.

yess that is a long time not to have lost to any asian team in 90 min that tell alot and from 2014 world cup qualifiers final round till now,is 8 and 3 which is 11 games we only concided 2 goals, that is a big achievement, yes we didnt score alot, but 2 goals in 11 games, that is mega impressive

i wanna ask you if we play attacking and free flow with a shitty defense, and lose games and not go to world cup like 2002, you want that?or go to world cup?

Absolutely not. Let me tell you if South Korea parks the bus on Tuesday they will get massacred. Their team is loaded with CM talent and very poor defense. If they dont keep the ball they are in trouble.

Japan is very similar and add in that Japan is dysmal on setpiece defending. If they park the bus they would concede on corners and set pieces.

Australia maybe. But they did look leaky against Saudi Arabia. Even with a back four and Mile Jedinak shielding them.

i agreee, korea let in 4 goals at home, japan lost at home, barely won against iraq, thier defenses is leaky and very shaky

Individually all players made mistakes on the field, all of them.
But collectively as a team we played solid in the defence and organized throughout the field.
If you notice, CQ can with ease replace one defender with another, and his system doesnt change and works.
I remember defense has always been the weakest point of TM since I ever remember watching football, and now we can easily say we have the best defense in Asia.
This credit goes to CQ and only CQ!

Well, that is another discussion! If you like the so called "classic Italian style" of game, that is your personal preference and I completely respect that! Some people like it attacking style and some others defensive. That still doesn't mean it's the best tactic in Asia!

Of course go to the world cup! That's the way we can do it. But I would still not call it the best tactic in Asia! That's too big of a statement! The best tactic "for us" to reach the world cup, is the better way to describe it!

LMAO@ get massacred!!! Dude, there have been much weaker teams than S. Korea and Japan who've parked the bus against us! Not only we couldn't massacre them, we struggled to win against them (if we did win, it was only marginally)! Last time, it was against China! If Japan, S. Korea and Australia would go all defensive, we wouldn't have a chance of winning against them! We'd be very lucky if we did!

Those teamss reserved tactics are to park the bus and defend. Qatar included. Australia,Japan, South Korea do not know how to park the bus.

With your logic, Barcelona parking the bus would be a good team. No they would be dreadful.

This is totally wrong. If those teams knew they would get better results by playing defensive, they would be already doing so. Winning is what really matters in professional sport, and if playing that way would give them a better chance you seriously think they would not do so?

Teams like Korea and Japan defend really poorly, they would be shocking if they adopted a defensive strategy.
