In other words, after an away loss in the opponent's post-match conference he humiliated his own team's strikers and team by discrediting them, while praising a mediocre Qatari older player, wishing he had a player of his caliber on his team. He will not last too long with them.

Stielike is a total sore loser, I remember even in their last loss to us 2 years ago in Tehran in a friendly he cried out loud about us and our hosting manners, and called for a revenge match in Korea etc. Back then I got to know him and how big of a loser he is.

That certainly does not inspire confidence in the Korean team. Very unprofessional comment by coach, no matter how his players performed.

Imagine CQ saying something like that. He would have been eaten alive by Mayeli Kohan and co!

Well he helped the Koreans to become secound in the Asian Cup 2015 so i dont think he will get fired... He proved allready that he can give results. Teams lose someday and win someday... its part of the game. Iran simply was to good for the Koreans this time. I am sure the return game will look different.

He got to second place because he didn't have to play Iran in the semi-finals. If Iran hadn't gotten screwed by Pooladi and Ben Williams, we would have made the finals and likely won the whole thing.

NBC Sports on the Asian Qualifiers:

A pair of surprises would be headed for Russia if Asian World Cup qualifying finishes the way it stands after four match days.

Because of that, we’d also have an incredible playoff match for the fifth spot with Japan and South Korea points off the pace.

The surprises come courtesy of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. The former some of us saw coming, the latter not-so-much.

Here’s how it all played out on Tuesday.

              Iran 1-0 South Korea

Sardar Azmoun continued his insane run to start life as a senior international, as the 21-year-old Rostov striker netted his 16th goal in 22 caps for Iran, which is atop Group A while Korea Republic slips third.

              Uzbekistan 2-0 China

The White Wolves rebounded from a home loss to Iran to clinch its third win of qualifying on two second half goals. Veteran Marat Bikmaev and 20-year-old Otabek Shukurov scored for the hosts.

              Australia 1-1 Japan

Aston Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak converted a 52nd minute penalty to keep Australia in an automatic qualifying spot, one point ahead of Japan. The visitors opened the scoring through Hertha Berlin winger Genki Haraguchi in the fifth.

Saudi Arabia 3-0 United Arab Emirates

Both sides had the chance to take advantage of group powers Australia and Japan drawing, and it was the Saudis who got the job done on goals from three different players. The Green Falcons lead Group B with 10 points, while UAE is a point back of Japan and sits fourth.

              Qatar 1-0 Syria

The lone goal of the game comes from a Hassan Al Haidous penalty.

              Iraq 4-0 Thailand

Not one, not two, not three, but four goals came from 23-year-old Mohannad Abdul-Raheem, who plays for Al-Zawra’a SC in Iraq.

Let's just hope the Saudi's don't qualify, as we don't want another terrible performance by the AFC teams in the World Cup again.

Ideally, Iran, Japan, Australia, and South Korea have have the greatest potential of all Asian team, and they rightly deserve to qualify.

                  Thank you for the article!

                  That's true.
Did you notice the Japanese officials were all wearing black?

despite my dislike for them, saudi have looked potent up front lately, have real pace.

is yet to be seen ,saudi played mostly home games, they beat uae at home, played iraq away, beat thailand at home also, yess they have 10 points but they played all home games and drew 2-2 with aus at home also, the key is can they get points away from uae, japan, aus and even thailand, i think they will slip up and get 3rd or even 4th

True. They've been really potent at converting dubious penalty kicks.

                          S. Korea is sliding deeper into crisis matchday after matchday. Difficult, comeback wins against China, Qatar; draw with Syria and losing to Iran. Not just losing, but being completely outplayed.
I really hope Uzb can pull off at least a tie in Seul next month. I can see this happening, they are in crisis, they have lost the momentum and confidence.

Those two penalites against Iraq was a joke!

Both were penalties. Come on man. The first one was so obvious. The second one, he got fouled - the referee couldn't have called it if he wanted to. But the referee was whistle-happy the entire game, so they should have known better.

Iraqis keep crying about every game they lose. They are just not that good. They act way above their pay grade. They are a fourth-tier Asian team.
