If we really want to prepare for the Syria match, we should play a team that's going to park the bus to properly adjust our tactics for the Syria match.

I don't think whether humidity is 50 or 80% where we have our friendly is ultimately going to make as much of a difference as Thailand surely playing more defensively than Iraq will.

We don't have time to waste to play Iraq, we better save our energy and power into beating Syria. It makes no sense to travel to the shithole Dubai and then go all the way back to Malaysia. At this point, I'd rather have some poor club team from Malaysia to work on our confidence. I am pretty hopeful CQ is going to reject Iraq's offer.

No point playing Iraq now. We need to solely focus on 3 points against Syria. Have our players do passing drills and practice corner/setpiece routines. Korea dropped points vs Syria. If we could beat them the gap will get larger.

There are rumors that CQ is trying to get a Thai club to play TM if the national team cancels.

I think what matters is how strong our opponent is and what tactics CQ wants to employ to defeat that team. so having said this, IMO IRAQ is perfect sparring partner for TM ( and I said it on a previous post before as well when we were supposed to play Thailand) They play physical football very similar to Syria, they defend well . It will give CQ a chance to try out a few tactics and players before we meet Syria. Plus UAE is a perfect venue, weather is hot and humid like SE Asia and it has a huge Iranian expat ( and local) population, irrespective of the sour relations, Dubai has always been friends to Iran only because 70% of the native Dubai Population is of Iranian descent! So I fully support this....

Sorry for off topic, but are you sure about that? I find that very hard to believe.

And if it turns out to be true, then I'm very disappointed of this fact.

Although this is just a friendly match, but for both sides it will be an extremely emotional match, for both will fight full-heartedly for a win, and nothing short of it. Plus the venue (Dubai) also sounds wrong folks, given the sour circumstances of the relationship between Iran and the UAE, I cannot picture a very hospitable and pleasant hosting by UAE, for it may even demoralize our sensitive and emotional players.

Although they currently seem to be suffering from a terrible shape and condition, but for some odd reason, every time they play us, all of a sudden they become Spain and seems like as though they're in a battlefield, trying to murder us!
I agree. We should not play Iraq in this friendly. I would rather play Vietnam in Hanoi (weather and those Viet girls are wild ) or Lebanon (probably similar in tactics). I would be open to a rematch with Iraq after the Syria game, before our match with Qatar.

I don't see anything wrong with playing Iraq who has similarity with Syria. If the game is in 6th as the reports claims, then it is fine, we can travel to Thailand right after our game and even play a game with Thai club and then travel to Malaysia.

I agree and I think a team like Lebanon/Palestine would be a good test and better option.

i still think playing in southeast asia is better than dubai, however iraq is a good friendly, earlier than the other game, which is good
