TAJ: CLUBS THAT OWE MONEY WON’T BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE

Paatoop.com- In a meeting in Shiraz, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, revealed some new information.

Mehdi Taj, president of the Iranian Football Federation, said, “If clubs are not able to pay their debts, as of next season, they will not be allowed to compete, and will be replaced by other clubs.”

He added, “According to the rules of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), we can only allow teams who have professional conditions to compete in the Iran Pro League.”

Taj continued, “Some media sources have said that the Iranian Football Federation is ‘running on empty’, but this is not true. We don’t have any debts, and are owed six million dollars by FIFA; we have to pursue this matter seriously.”

The federation president explained, “We have 18 national teams at different levels, and they need a lot of funding, and if we get what we’re owed, we can solve many of the existing problems, and spend more on our football.”

Regarding football broadcasting rights in Iran, Taj said, “World wide, football’s income is well known; primarily earnings from television broadcasting. But this is not the case in our country; we have had many meetings with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), that were inconclusive, as they told us that they have problems, and that some of their employees haven’t been paid in months.”

Taj also expressed his support of an IPL club in the Province of Fars, and said, “This province definitely has to have a team in the Iran Pro League, so that football can grow here, and this must be done through cooperation with the officials of Fars.”

With regards to the broadcasting, it's pure classic IR: whenever something is state owned, it's doomed to be ashghal and be gah bere, just look at Iran Air vs. Mahan Air. Why should IRIB spend ressources on anything besides islamic brainwashing?

Sport Ministry hopefully pays some of Persepolis' debt as they did for SS in last season. Then, they should ban all clubs which refuse to pay their players. SS Tehran just gives empty promises with very high price tags on our players in league. in baes shode gheymate gharardade bazikona bikhodi besoorate kazeb bala bere. SS, Persepolis, Sepahan and other big football clubs should stop signing unreal contracts, making the price tag unreal, then not paying the football players.

Exactly. You know the funny thing is that most Iranian clubs are owned by big corporation that makes millions, if not billion of dollars a year. I mean who in the right mind believes that an oil company, a metal company, or a car company can't pay a few million dollars of debt? These corporations have their names on clubs for marketing/advertising, but don't want to pay for it.

It's about time the federation starts taking some serious action.

          Bunch of non-sense.

The majority of clubs are owned and controlled by government and/or related government organizations. Taj cannot do shxt since he is paid by government. LOL.

Taj should remain the head of IFF for years to come! He's doing a fantastic job IMO!

Let's see what comes from it. I'm expecting a lot of excuses, loopholes and fake promises by the club owners.
