So Zambia are 1st and they will rest the 1st team. Costa Rica will probably beat their unmotivated 2nd team.
So it is between Portugal and Iran for likely a 3rd place assuming Costa Rica win. I do not see Iran beating Portugal but if that happens Iran may face England rather than South Korea, the latter of which most of you prefer.
Iran will get a huge support from Koreans for a tie if Korea beat or tie England the day before.
If Korea lose to England, Koreans will give you a huge support to beat Portugal and you will likewise want to win badly since in that case you face Korea instead of England.

Let's be honest. We were 2-0 up against the run of play. This game was mostly all Zambia.
We collapsed defensively, but Zambia is a very good team (possible contenders for the trophy). They attacked full throttle the whole game.
There was a massive disparity in fitness levels. We've all played the game before. When you're not fit enough, huffing and puffing 40 mins into the game, you can't keep concentrating and errors pop up in your game.
Hopefully the coach does not let this result get to the players minds, as they have to prepare for a more beatable game against Portugal.

I bet half of Zambian team are over age players. Look at their muscle and bone structure. Look at their face and you get the feature of mid 20s not teenage boys. Nigerian were using overage players for years and some of their coaches admitted they have been practicing this since 90s. I won't be surprised if you find a bunch of overage players in African and South Asian teams. Iraq is also another example of cheating in u20 u23 level competition. I saw the date of birth of Younes Mahmoud on his passport being 1979 but they have faked it on their fifa documents as 1983. I saw the document when Iraqi team was playing against Syria in a friendly match in Tehran. If Iraqis can do that for years and not being caught every poor country can do that.Last edited by PersianLegion; 05-24-2017, 07:02 AM.

they need to pick themselves up. They had it, and 15 minutes caused them to capitulate. Not the fault of coaching...just their own inexperience and emotion in the moment.
But with the results, it is still all in their hands... Portugal clearly arent that good. We can beat or tie them but defense needs to be refocussed, and gholami needs to come in.

This team with coaching of Peyrovani the way it play won't go that far even if advance. Not only he has not enough knowledge and expertise to teach system and tactics but players are better of ignoring his misleading analysis.
Examples:
During earlier round he moved Gholami who was decent RB to CD position which was a bad choice and costly. Gholami last season played for Sepahan as starter RB and did reasonably good but Peyrovani benched him in favor of Shahsavari from Azadegan Golgohar. Unlike Gholami he has zero international experience and was not part of U19 or younger national team. Shahsavari was a weakest link of Defense and when Peyrovani decided to use Gholami he played him as DM. Gholami never has play at any age group as DM except today.
Peyrovani had one year to select and prepare his squad but today he made weird decision.
Razaghpour during earlier round played as LB where he plays at his club but never as DM. He scored few good goals for U19 last year but not solid defender because his tendency to move forward without ability to cover his defensive duties when join offense. Saudi scored two goals from his side because he was not there. He is not as good defender as Derakhshanmehr and because peyrovani want to play him he was played as DM instead of Shojaei. He failed as DM today.
Why would Coach play Razaghpour as DM when he could have Taheran who play for Tractor first team and played even at Hazfi final? Why not playing Gholami as RB instead of MF?
We saw Aghasi was not very good CD but after a year he was not able to come up with an alternative .
After wasting a year his team playing same way played versus Japan and Saudi Arabia.
He has serious problem with Dline then and now and he has been unable to do anything about it.
After humiliating defeat to Saudi I predicted Peyrovani not only will not be dismissed but will be rewarded. As it stand now IFF plan to appoint him as U23 coach after WCu20
