In match with Portugal, Iran had only 33% of possession, so loss was not undeserved, however you analyze it: http://int.soccerway.com/matches/201...n-u20/2170122/
KSA can win the cup if they want and have the next Messi in their roster. Their players won't export in Europe and will start to rot slowly by slowly.

BTW, Argentina was eliminated too. Anyway, that is so frustrating to see garbage Costa Rica advance but one have to admit we had nothing to propose except Shekari's flash of brillance.
I guess Euro scouts will pick in the remaining exotic teams (Venezuela, Zambia, Uruguay, USA, SK, Sénégal, Japan) rather than looking to Iran potential

and who could blame them? Besides shekari, nobody over the course of these three games warranted a euro move. Maybe some of them have the potential to do it, but over the course of three games there was only one player who stood out. I think ghaedi was also unfairly benched for the first two games. We could have used him as another offensive outlet besides shekari.

The guy who disappointed me the most was Noorafkan. All I heard was how great he is and a starter for Esteghlal and blah, blah, blah. I saw nothing out of him. Honestly I saw more from Sultanimehr and razzaghpourin the center. And that wasn't even much.

If Iran could have the like of Ali Daei, Mahdavikia, Hashemian, Nekounam, Karimi, Azmoun, and now Shekari, it could build also other good players. That's unfair to stop on the U20 world cup and snubing Iran potential

Football players these days have two values. One is their football skills and the other one is their followers/viewers aka business value. Most of African players who make it to European leagues only have the first set of value. Usually African countries are so poor to buy viewership of European channels or buy jersey or accessories. Korean, Japanese, Australians and Chinese have a good business value because there are many folks who pay for TV rights as well as accessories for these players.

Our players should rely on first setof values just like Africans plus overcome our bad reputation in political world thanks to our last president and IR. If we have a great player among our youth talents they will eventually make it to Europe if they show their talents in ACL or youth level WCs.

I can see Saudi Arabia's goalkeeper costing Iran points in the future. LOL

I don't think Euro clubs sign Japanese, Korean and Australian players just for marketing reasons. Look at Japan. They have 10 or so players who play regularly in the top leagues. First of all, football isn't that popular in the three countries. The success of guys like Kagawa and Son opened up for other Japanese and Korean players to join European teams. The same goes for our boys in Russia.

Just out of curiosity, I know we are out but who do you think will win the tournament and why?

Maybe England. They have been surprisingly good and have the best route to the semi finals.

I have actually not seen their games, who are the interesting players?

I think France has this in the bag.

I would be surprised if they didn't win.

England look good but not as good as France.

USA also looks decent with their striker.

France are the favorites, but I think it will be Uruguay or Venezuela. Those two teams have impressed me the most. They are very physical, fast, and play with a lot of speed and technique. England have also looked good and have a decent chance. S. Korea might get quite far given their home field advantage. I think Uruguay will destroy saudi in the next round, thankfully.
