Watch the match keh 4:30 sob misheh injah. I need my sleep man lol; based on what you said a yellow seems harsh but I still need to see the incident myself.
When the commentator (who called Mexico "we" and was obviously pulling for Mexico) says "no mercy being shown for Delfi here", you know it was a harsh card. The ref made a bad decision and the commentators seemed to agree, but if you want to disagree with me, that is fine. Again, I have personally not seen that called a yellow, while I have seen a long boot to waste time being called a yellow. So, I agree with you on what should be a yellow, and this is not that scenario.

I've had games where players would nudge it a few feet but I never give it a card for it, if anything I'd give them a verbal warning first. It sounds harsh the way you describe it... still being a registered ref myself there's always that need for me to see it.
Knowing this ref gives easy yellow against Iranians what Delfi did was stupid like he was asking for it. Nekonam did the same thing against Portugal, got a yellow and missed the next WC game. Sad to see Delfi missing the important game against Spain.

Someone will probably post a highlight of it. Again, there are many violations of the "book of rules" that just aren't called often because they are too harsh in a tournament environment.
This is another Pooladi situation, as it hurts our team for the crucial QF match, but some will argue it's "deserved." Again, compare Ezatolahi's red for retaliation on an eye rake, to Pooladi getting the red for "simulation" when retaliated against by the Iraqi GK after his foul.
Both are technically following the rules, but they're harsh judgment calls by the ref. Referees can follow the rules, but be too weak when a Syrian guy is pretending he got shot in the wang for 80 minutes out of 90, and then overdo it when a player gets pushed and simulates, or retaliates against an eye rake, or kicks the ball 5 feet away to waste a couple of seconds in a game.
I just want equal referee decisions. Not always "our guy is dumb, he deserved it!"
Our guys can't always be in the wrong in both the Ezatolahi and Pooladi situations. One was the retaliator, one was the flopper. Seems like we're darned if we do and darned if we don't. We are always the ones with game changing punishments against us. This is another example of an overly harsh punishment that will affect our tournament.
Not claiming a conspiracy, a lot of teams get these dumb calls, but we have to acknowledge these unequal referee calls. Some want to just always blame us and call the referee right, when referees are often wrong and avoid carding the many many grassrollers we face who waste a LOT of time, much worse than Delfi or Pooladi.
Also, have to mention Dejagah's second game against Qatar in 2011 or 2012, when he pushed a Qatari player after a scuffle and the guy dropped like a ton of bricks. The push was soft, but guess who got the yellow? Dejagah, not the Qatari.
These are just so many wonky calls. We should be able to call them bad, even if they are within the rules. The rules are randomly applied with human error.
Exactly. What the ref did (giving a yellow) was in his purview. It was at his discretion. Delfi's action wasn't overtly outrageous but it was an attempt at wasting time. He is very young and hopefully he learns from this and hopefully, even without him we beat Spain.
We all know historically we have had officiating that goes against Iran. We shouldn't give the refs excuses to make such calls against us.

watched the Spain-France highlights: Spain was not overly dominant, and their last penalty wasn't even a penalty. The attacker tripped himself in the box.
Highlights of the match between France and our next round opponent, Spain
WOW, super sneaky penalty ... no contact with player ... he purposely tripped himself ... man, i wish we get video replay for the WC for offsides goals and penalty calls

That should have gotten Ghaderi's yellow card for simulation. Poor guy gets his foot stamped and gets the yellow card despite the ref standing right near him with a clear view.

yea man
he earned that PK all on his own...!! i mean literally..!!

the problem was that he went way overboard with the theatrics of his fall...!! hence the yellow for simulation
besides he had earned a rather soft PK earlier with similar antics and Ref wasnt going to be fooled again
Delfi's Yellow on the other hand was very hardly warranted...

Seems many of us agree and disagree on different cards It's probably just all a matter of perspective, but that stamp looked pretty painful to me on the replay. Maybe it was the slow motion, but watching it close with the guy going right onto his foot made me think the fall was legitimately from pain. I thought it looked like simulation when it first happened, but the replay showed the clear stamp from the closer angle. Even the commentators disagreed with the call, but I guess it's all your perspective of the game. A person with a refereeing background, or history playing as a certain position may look at it differently than me.
