I'm still very proud of our team.

Losing to Spain is nothing to be ashamed of.

We all know that Asian football is lacking in speed compared to Europe. And Spain is probably the highest speed of them all.

Hopefully the boys learn from what happened today.

Proud of the team. Great tournament. Sure they were eliminated but they lost to the European champions and in the end the most important thing is the experience gained.

Overall a good showing by Iran U17. Many lessons can be learned from such tournaments. There are descent talents on this team. Shariati, Delfi, Sayad Manesh and maybe a couple of others. Not only players gained experience at this levels, but I also think Chamanian and his staff should learn from it as well. We played the first three game with much energy compared with the last two. In front of Mexico, the team looked rather tired. Part was of course the high Humidity where they played. Part was also that Coach did not rest a few players when he should have in the Third game. Also, in the Mexican game, Chamanian should have subed much sooner. I don't really understand why he was hesitant on substitution while the team was gasping for air. The biggest lesson Chamanian and his coaching staff should learn is that there has to be more than one tactic in their strategy to win against bigger teams. Sitting back and losing the possession in the hope of an effective counter attach is ok if it is part of the strategy in a game and not the only one. He is coaching the next U16 team. Hope we will see better possession game in the new team. That Big question that remains is if he and his staff actually know how to implement such strategy in team exercises and plans. Time will tell.

The main reason why he didn't make so many subs against Mexico is quite obvious. Unfortunately this team relies too much on a few players, our subs maybe would have made us lose that game. I'm not trying to defend Chamanian, he has his share of responsibilities too but I think he got the best out of this team overall.

Again these kids have half of the facilities and their coaches in their teams are definitely 2 level lower than those in Spain for instance and unfortunately it was clearly visible today.

Iranian coaches are one trick ponies. Good experienced coaches from the opposition learn their repetitive techniques and kill us in games where winning matters.... Chamaniyan needs to go to PEC and register with CQ for more courses, he was out classed BIG TIME!!!

are u fucking serious. He was outclassed bc spains players are many, many classes above iran's players. Winning mattered in every game chamanian has coached starting from asian cup last year and his team has lost, let me repeat this, one game - against spain. ( the one to iraq was on PK's). You just cant please some people no matter what. I think the majority of people here are very impressed by chamanian and u17's showing

I agree with eerooni at some point, yes Spain was a better team, probably a level above us, but the way we played was like a team which had no clue on the field, he tried to copy CQ counter-attack system but the main issue was: 1) We lost the midfielder 2) his wingers didn't participate on making plays from the sides like the way it has been done in TM.
Sorry but all we saw today was ALI ASGHARI football, sending long balls with blind eyes from defenders into the box(and also too many bad passes even on the short distance) and they were hoping it touches someone and end up as a lucky goal. He respected the opponent too much, when you scores 10 goals in elimination round and 4 against Germany it can't be an accident. The mental preparation wasn't simply there or it failed.
He had a pretty decent strategy in group stage, Ok one against Mexico but his ultra-conservative if you can call it strategy failed today, the score would have been different if Spain could capitalize on their chances.

its fair to say they didnt perform on the day, but you cant jsut discredit all that they did in the previous games. you cant pick and choose when to attach responsibility to chamanian . If he is responsible , which he partially is, for our poor performance vs spain, he is equally responsible for our phenomenal performance vs Germany, and in the group stages all together.

I think overall he did well, but in elimination round he was too conservative, i am not sure even himself believed we can beat Spain and players always inspire from the coaching staffs. He was even too conservative against Mexico(which surprised me), i mean if his team was playing defensive football from the beginning of tournament, i wouldn't mind that but knowing how we played in first three group stages matches, changing the strategy wasn't the best thing, i understand in elimination round you don't attack like headless chicken, but still.....

I did not watch this match so I don't have the right to comment on it. I did however watch the highlights.

I would like to congratulate our boys for making it this far into the tournament. We should all be proud of them. This is definitely an improvement since 2009 (round of 16), 2013 (round of 16), and now 2017 (quarter-finals)

                            Dear friends,
Time to praise Iran National Team for the fantastic performance at U-17 India World Cup. Congratulations to all players and staff! The young Iranian players showed their great quality and future. And coach Abbas Chamanian developed a very good work making the best of them. Taking into consideration all the difficulties, the different resources and training conditions, ending this competition at the quarter-finals against an opponent like Spain is a very good win for Iran, that brings honor to the fans and international prestige for Iranian football. Again, congratulations to all players and staff!
