I have one question for those who follow youth football. Is this Spain's team way beyond and above the German team we outclassed by 4-0? Because we shut the Germans down in all areas giving them no hope to even score one. Whereas against Spain we seemed otherwise, could this be due to our boys being tried, or Delfi's absent? Or maybe the Spaniard were just too strong to fight against? This Spanish team made me feel as if I were watching Barcelona play. Their tiki-taka and ball possession was a carbon copy!

Overall, good job by Iranian U - 17.
There were tactical errors in using key players in Costa Rica game. Iranian players also made silly mistake such as Delfi kicking the ball and getting his second yellow card and not playing against Spain.
We need our teams to participate and learn from this and similar experiences. It is good for our sport and football specifically. The game ended for Iran. I asked to support them but none of came forward. So? What did you expect?چو ایران نباشد تن من مباد

Iran U17 did very well at WC 2017 and made a history for Iran football by their advance. For the most part, they performed well and strong and they became Cinderella of the group stage. Unfortunately, they could not overcome strong Spain for QF.
Their performance against Spain was unsatisfactory and disappointment. They lost to a better team with own bad game plan. Their failure was related to tactics and psychological factors.
Most Iranian PDL teams even TM various levels have trouble playing well against passing teams, U17 game versus Spain was a good example of that. Even versus Mexico Iran side struggle to defend their goals versus Mexico in the second half and Spain was a much better passing team.
Iran was a surprise and dominated their opponent in the group stage by good game plan and offensive minded tactic but others they watched and analyzed Iranian success and Spain found a counter against Iran.
They noticed Iran gave up possession but able to score by direct and fast transition executed by strong and technical forward. Spain Neutralized Iran by possession, pressure and forcing Iran to play in their own half and breaking transition by neutralizing the connection (Hosseinzadeh).
Spain copied Mexico second half success from the wings that tore apart Iran defense few times and they were more successful since they had better success with Ruiz very good finisher.
Spain Passing game frustrated and tired Iranian players especially after the first goal. Iranian side has never been behind against any team since their group game against Saudi Arabia over a year ago. Iran conceded 2 goals in the first half but managed to defeat Saudi 3:2.
Iran tactic helped Spain more dominant by a decision to press from their own half field. Iranian Coach by not have any variation in their tactics posed no surprises for Spain and it seems players mentally were not sure if they can win over Spain. Playing too much defense against offensive minded and an experienced team was not a wise decision. Cammanian should have known Spain will attack from the wing, spread defense line forcing Sharifi and Ghobeishavi to leave the center creates a gap and unable to do quick transition, maybe he knew and was unable to do adjust. Without Delfi Iranian offense was not lethal and his replacement Namdari is an MF player with a tendency to stay back helping RB. The absence of Delfi was a blessing for Spain and their star LB Miranda. Miranda has been a key player for Spain. He missed one game and Spain lost that game versus Brazil. Delfi, when played even when not scored, had the ability to pose a danger from the right side and beat LB defender most of the time on one to one, giving opportunity to Sayyad and center or Hossein Zadeh and Ghaderi, that was missing when Chamanian decided to play an MF player in his play ( 4-5-1).
Iran had very good preparation in Spain playing two good games versus France and Mexico but Spain even had a better experience playing in Euro championship and then Azerbaijan tournament.
Spain’s experience and tactics worked very well against Iran in QF.
Reaching QF was fantastic, losing to Spain not a disaster but not performing to their ability was a letdown. Iran U17 could have done much better.Last edited by St_Mark; 10-25-2017, 12:47 AM.

Iran tactics, Senior team and also U17, all teams, showed CQ tactics. we are good in going fast forward after mistake of defense of teams, or if they can not control the ball and game...but Spain team was able to control the game, while Germany was not able to hold the ball good in their own rows. Spain showed we have not enough to offer against a ball controlled team, which do NOT make this mistakes.
also we sendet too much long balls, no own playing vs. Spain....we were stressed..World Cup 2006, Frankfurt, Iran vs. Portugal, Iranian Frontpage of GOAL Sportspaper

And on the 8.Day God created Ali Karimi, and he saw he was good!
If Defenders were allowed to use their hands to stop Karimi -

U17 players came from various clubs but most were from Saipa, Foulad, Peykan, Malavan, Shahrdari BA, Esteghlals, but Saipa and Fould contributed more.
Although 4 players are listed as a member of Saipa, none of them are a product of their club.
Shariati and Sharifi moved from Moghavemant and Esteghlal Khuzestan after AFC U16 championship and Sayyad manesh and Nasiri moved few months ago.
Foulad's Gholamzadeh , Jalali( IRIB funeral reporter all the time calling him jalili) , Satavi,,Namdari , Sharifi ( all 5 played versus Spain U17) are a product of Foulad Academy . The Foulad club released Namdari and Sharifi free to Esteghlal khuz after winning u14 & u16 championship( liq bartar) .
Foulad Academy ( Nonahalan) is very successful and two of the best current U16 team are the product of Academy.
Foulad U13, 3 years ago. U16 1st Captain Bavieh ( sitting row-5th from R ) , U16 2nd captain Shaverdi (sitting row-2nd from R )
Fould Current U16 team( without the two)Last edited by St_Mark; 10-25-2017, 02:05 AM.
