What a joke - the three AFC player of the year nominees are a joke - and has been since 2007. No Carlos Querioz as coach? No Sardar or ARJ as Player of the Year?

Every year they fumble and F up the Player of the Year by nominating mostly Arab, some Chinese players. It's been a JOKE since Ali Karimi won in 2007. It use to be prestigious but has become irrelevant Arab players/ Chinese players circle jerk.

The Iraqi guy for instance, scored well in the AFC Asian Cup - you know, the cup where the finalist is an Indian club and you're playing Vietnamese clubs etc. Great accomplishments.

Omar AbdurRahman is the most overrated Asian player. The guy has done nothing and his UAE team is struggling. With that said, he's still more worthy than the other two.

            --

To be fair, the finalists should be - considering their level of club play and national team play:
            Son Heung-min (KOR)
            Sardar Azmoun (IRN)
            Nagatomo or Honda (JPN)

            ---

You can argue for Son because he has been outstanding at top EU club, won top individual awards at Tottenham and has done OK for national team (not as great as a player of his stature should, you can argue). You can make a case for Sardar, who is thriving at club (lesser league than Son), Champions League and Iran national team.

Anyone outside these two winning is a joke.

Please don't ever compare them again - this is hurting my eyes. Sardar at 21 has done better and than ANY Iraqi striker in history or player for that matter already.

This is an insult to him.

...and the AFC ANNUAL AWARDS 2016 must win the FIFA JOKE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Qatar being nominated for grassroots football, it must be their passport department that issues passports to young non-Qataris (their Aspire programme)

The National team in Asia that not has lost to another Asian team in almost FOUR years while at the same time being the top-ranked Asian team in the FIFA-rankings is ignored?

                      Pathethic AFC as usual...

These awards are only based on ACL performances

Hopefully, Perspolis can make Iran pround and make it into the final.
