Actually move a frames forward and you see this.
    SYR-Min70-IRN-90tv.ir-1.mp4_000020446x.jpg
The black line is the one drawn by indignant Iranian fans with skewed eyes(and mind). And see how it is off with the penalty box line on the right.
    The correct line should be
    SYR-Min70-IRN-90tv.ir-1.mp4_0000199212.jpg
The more skewed line is the one drawn by biased Iranian fans and the more upright line is the correct one.
Now the correct line would not be as high angled as the penalty box lines(because it is to the left of the penalty box line) but it obviously has a higher angle than the one you drew.
The margin of offside is pretty comfortable. This one was not even close.
And no one really knows what would have happened if it was not called. Gucci actually slowed down after hearing the whistle and the Syrian defenders stopped playing but Gucci just tapped in as in WTH mode.
It would have been a very good chance but a sure goal? Hell no.

P.S. Actually I now see that my line is too high angled. So the margin of offside is not that large but it is still a very clear and uncontroversial call.

I managed to stop the clip at 0:19 as Bachelot said and sorry to say but you're wrong. It was marginal, but he was onside. Just barely though, he is in line with the Syrian player... well his feet are at least.

You are wrong but you don't know the rule anyway. If any part of the body except the arms goes over the line he is offside. Read the rule book.

Yeah I kind of know that... but I always try to forget that rule. Being a ref myself the head one is by far the stupidest rule (unless it actually touches his head or the player attempts to go for it with his head). You're right though, in that sense he definitely is off.

Nevermind, watched it again and his head was on too. I don't know what offside you see there. And I stopped at 0:19

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they postpone the kick-off because of the weather?
How was it even possible for the afc officials to declare this pitch match ready is beyond me? IFF should file an official complaint.
Why did our team accept to play on this pitch at all? Seriously I was scared our players would get seriously hurt & the Syrians tackling extra hard really didnt help...

no it did NOT roll in those games! the turkey pitch was up and down uneven mud and the one in poland was heavy snow where you couldnt see the ball and the jerseys where all white! you can replay those games if u like

Arab-FC was probably waiting for Iran to withdraw, and give the 3 points to syria.

Look @ that clip & pause it exactly @ 19 sec.
you'll see amiri hasn't released the ball yet & reza is already a step offside.
                    Mashti jan,

Here is another photo. At this stage Amiri has released the ball. How is this offside by Gucci?

I was so worked up for the first 12 hours after the match because of the shitty playing conditions, syrian grass rolling, syrian celeberating 1 point when realistically they absolutely needed 3 and the offside call.
I am calm now, team meli games like this just cause me too much health problems and stress lol. I think the best revenge is to crush them in Tehran like we crushed Lebanon 4-0. While we are at it lets also crush the other arab team in our group as well! Revenge is a dish best served cold

I am still trying to figure out why we are discussing Gucci's legit goal. It was not offside, simple as that. To me it rather looks like some just want to have another opinion and get attention. You can discuss fouls or penalty calls for example, but there is a clear rule for offside or not. Frankly some screenshots posted here are wrong. Either the drawn lines are messed up or the screenshot was taken at the wrong time - either Amiri didn’t release the ball yet or the screenshot was taken too late to make Gucci look like offside - but now lets finish discussing FACTS.

There was more than just that scene for us to be mad about. Besides the pitch condition which enough members already explained, look at the actual game. The arab GK started wasting time already in the FIRST HALF!! and continued to do so until the last minute. Their #15 should become the next Bollywood start, while #7 constantly looked back at the referee during substitution to waste time as much as possible. All of the 3 players deserved a yellow at least - actually #15 should have been sent off. The game was already destroyed due to the nonexistent field and arabs just made it worse with their new invented mud-rolling.

Overall this was not a football game - there is no way to justify AFC corrupted decision to start the game. What was the reason to delay the match in the first place? lol honestly, what did it change? They didn’t treat the field and the situation didn’t change a bit - pretty sure they just played mind games to irritate TM payers and make them lose focus. Syria benefited from the whole condition as TM couldn’t build up their usual game and arabs just had to defend and bezan ziresh. They have no tactics anyway, so that pitch only stopped us and made arabs hope for some lucky cheap punch.

Gucci didn't slow down and the GK tried to save, but he scored. Also there was no way for the arab defender to catch Gucci anyway - maybe at best with a brutal foul that would have resulted into a PK.

If they're not gonna do anything for a big european team in the most pretigious tournament, you think they'll care about us who are run by a buncha bisavad monkeys ??

"Fresh" snow in the middle of the game and a working drainage system are the huge difference here. A shitty field full of water & mud even before the match started is much much worse!

Ekbatan jaan please check the 2 examples again and compare it wiht our situiaton.

                          Example #1
The match in Turkey was actually abandoned in the 33rd minute, because at kick-off the pitch actually looked fine until it started to snow:

Watch the video to see how the ball is still able to roll and how they treated & fixed the field for the second half by competent officials, unlike AFC...

                          Example #2
Again, it started to snow during the second half and again the ball rolls better on fresh snow than on mud.

You see the difference? The ball did roll better on both examples and whatever happened it was DURING THE GAME, while the field for the Syria game was already messed up several hours BEFORE THE GAME even started. Actually not hours but days, since it’s been raining like crazy in Malayasia and at that time of the year anyone could have predicted that.

The match is over and we tied. Get over it.

Surprised Infantino hasn't taken action yet. The Blatter days are over so why isn't FIFA pressing AFC for professionality?

Cause Infantino comes from the same cloth as Blatter. He also can't make any changes as the FIFA constitution gives the same voting power to ever member. So Brazil and Madagascar have the same voting power. Hence small little countries are easily bribed.
