    2017 AFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

I hate to say it but I don't see many reasons to be optimistic about the future of our football. Our clubs regularly suck in ACL and always get eliminated by Arab teams in the round of 16. These Arab teams are nothing special and get smashed by 3rd tier European clubs even in preparation games.

And the elimination of our U-20 team adds up..it's seriously depressing to see that our talented players will go to waste because we're run from an amateur IFF. It's 2017, talent doesn't bring you good results anymore...Arab clubs are catching up and it's really painful to see. Simply because they are more professional while we are stuck with the outdated football ideology.

All my hope is on the legionnaires in Europe and Team Melli senior who is keeping our status and heads high with their great run in the WCQ and most probably (hopefully) 2nd qualification in a row to Russia. As a occasional critic of CQ I also know his value and what he brought to our TM at least. Professionalism and basics of football...

Good luck to Perspolis and Esteghlal Khuzestan, they will need it the most. Hopefully they can save our face.

Kiarash said it. I'm just wondering how we can improve in everything, volleyball, futsal, beach soccer and so on, but never in football at so many levels besides TM? and thats all thanks to one Portuguese man/legend.

because those sports have no monetary value attached to them. There are some sepah , other shady characters who have no business in football dragging down our clubs, league ,federation, and corrupting all levels of youth football in our country. There is one man who stood up to it all and he is CQ ! The only individual with the necessary balls, and credentials to stand up to these motherfuckers.

It was so painful watching this match live. Esteghlal literally got raped. The worst display by any Iranian team I have ever seen in ACL. Prior to this day, the other painful match I had watched was Perspolis away loss to Al Gharafa I believe?

6-1 loss is just not justifiable by any reasoning and logic. Plus it wasn't just the scoreline, but also the terrible performance, if you can call it performance at all!

Anyhow the way it's been going for the past 10 years, these Persian Gulf states clubs will sooner or later be able to beat our clubs at ease, not just because of their domestically produced players, but rather the fancy foreign players they're able to purchase, plus the top foreign coaches being hired by these clubs.

BTW Omar Abdulrahman is an amazing player. He was one of the main reasons of this big win for Al Ain.

Keano, the day is already here. that was our second best team and the "first team of payetakhat" that just got thrashed. it's not sooner or later aziz.
it's already happened and there's gonna be more tomorrow.

the ONLY reason that in the very beginning of this thread I stated that only Perspolis has an outside chance of advancing from their group was because of Branko (and his staff). Now if SS or other clubs in iran (including perspolis) are serious about advancing further in ACL, then they must go get themselves a half decent foreign coach like Branko, like Kranjcar, like whomever they can afford, bring him in and leave him alone for a few years. even then we are not going to be able to catch up financially with some of these rich clubs in Asia, be it Arab or Eastern Asia. so this thing is not gonna change as long as our clubs aren't rich enough. we might once in while see a Cinderella story that comes to a crashing end after a few games. that's it.

Ditto. I honestly didn't wanna hurt anyone's feelings, otherwise any honest and unbiased person would agree with this and concede the truth gracefully!

Yes! Iranian teams can never pass this stage. This was the worst representation and game for our country. We need to get really good foreign coaches to progress in any sport. RIP SS.

You guys are way too overly emotional. Don't forget that ACL results have nothing to do with national team performance. Otherwise, we would being seeing China and Qatar on top of our WCQ group LOL. Our clubs are bankrupt and don't have the fancy foreign players Arabs have. We should be proud of their ability to pass the group stage given these handicaps. Also, shit happens. Losses like this are rare but they happen in football.

The only way we can get better as a nation (beyond just having an amazing foreign coach for TM) is for all of our teams to demand higher qualifications from our coaches.

It isn't CQ job to educate an entire country, IFF should be sending our coaches to get prestigious coaching licenses.

The only way we can improve is if we end the days of hiring our friends as coaches and say goodbye to the likes of GN and Jalali and DEMAND reputable qualifications for all club teams as well as NTs.

Today's result really summarizes the state of our football. .... Pathetic!

From the youth development, to our top league club players, to the facilities and run down stadiums, to the coaching staff and media and how this whole sport is being manipulated by bunch of MF akhound for their own propaganda. It is just one hell of a mess!

Our football is just a joke!

Absolutely embarrassing, jesus i regret even watching the highlights. Completely toothless offensively, completely disorganized defensively. I feel nauseous.

If CQ is replaced with a vatani coach the same results will be a common occurrence with TM.

Just when things were looking up for our football...we let out two huge farts that will linger in mind of our Asian opponents for ages giving them a huge boost in confidence.
                                EAT. SLEEP. TM. REPEAT.
