4. Salary Cap.. I mean this is an NFL rule and they brought it to MLS.... No where in the world has a salary cap. The closes thing would be the financial fair play rule in Europe but that does not cap the salary at a certain number for each team. They have overall financial cap that basically says you cant spend more than you made to ensure teams don't go in debt or unfairly get money from their owners (PSG, Manchester City, etc.).. In MLS they look at each team the same..

Great Idea.

I hope one day a realistic cap will be implemented. Salary scale exists in every profession, why not in sports/football?

Some may argue that the athletic professional career is short, but still wouldn't justify these disproportionate wages.

This was implemented in Iran as well, but it didn't really work since couple of clubs didn't abide by it, in particular Esteghlal under Fathollahzadeh and Perspolis under Rouyanian.

The A-League is basically a mini MLS... 10 teams (9 from Australia and 1 from New Zealand) that somehow only play 27 times (play each other 3 times) then go to playoffs.. I am against salary cap. It doesn't do any good and teams who can't manage their money properly usually pay the price down the road. (In the NFL the Baltimore ravens won the super bowl in 2013 and the next season they were not as good bc they lost some of their good players due to salary cap) The financial fair play in Europe is good which ensures Arab and Chinese money doesn't save the team from the bad financial decisions they made.

If I remember correctly the big clubs in Europe said they will leave the champions league/Uefa and will have their own league if a salary cap is imposed, and I think thats why Uefa came up with Financial Fair Play instead.

I think before we take this into consideration we should have something like a players organisation, for which every player entering the league needs to be a part of and which ensures the players to get their salaries they signed for in the first place. Besides all foreigners there are a lot of especially young players who dont get their salaries..

You have to be smoking serious shit to think that any MLS team can compete with top Mexican teams.

Teams like Tigres UANL will rip mls teams into shreds.

Mexican teams, especially the top 5ish teams are quality, which is why they get invited to the South American champions league( copa libertadores)

Just look at the rosters of teams like Tigres and Monterrey, full of quality players a lot of whom have played in Europe already. And I don’t mean retirement age players.

Our leagues leading scorer and he goes to fucking Qatar, while leading scorers in Nigeria move to Eredivisie, Greek League, Russian League, Belgian League, Ligue 1, etc.

I don't want people saying its racism against Iranian players… We do this shit to ourselves. Let's hope its a temporary 6 month move, but either way, I don't want him starting when he's playing against Crowd-less Qatari teams.. SMH

He’s gonna make a ton of cash out there, shame it’s never going to help him reach his full potential.

Players like Jahanbakhsh, Azmoun, Ezzatolahi, Milad etc showed that they were internally motivated to develop their football, whereas Pouraliganji, Taremi etc are externally motivated by money.
