More Iranian players need to take chances and go to leagues like Croatia.
Sure, it's not a top league, but it's a place that feeds players to top leagues on a regular basis.
He's being rewarded for his patience and resilience.
His performance seems to have been great the last several games, I think he will start the rest of the games.
He had another last minute heroic - beating the best team in Croatia as well! That ball was coming right for him, he was going to score that. He scored a last minute goal that was similar to the penalty he won. It was on a corner as well.
This just goes to show that patience is key- both for our legionnaires who may not get big minutes right away, and members here on PFDC who are prone to getting frustrated too quickly. Hopefully Karimi can keep his starting spot and set the precedent for more Iranians to go to Croatia/other European leagues.
Going from being a respected 90 minute player in one of Iran's best teams to not even making the bench, is an extremely difficult thing! But he never gave up and worked hard! He's enjoying the results of his hard work now!
Transfermarkt has counted an assist by Ali Karimi against Rijeka.
Lokomotiva has been playing well ever since Karimi broke into the starting 11.
Transfermarkt is unreliable as far as assists go, they've given rebounds as assists before too. Whoscored is more the most reliable website that's out there but obviously they don't cover Croatian League.
