Iraqi player to miss world cup qualifiers due to his fears of playing in Iran

Columbus Crew and Iraqi player Justin Meram to miss vital world cup qualifiers Vs Australia and Saudi Arabia due to his fears on his status in America as Iraq will play their home games in Iran. Even though he is a US citizen....

I wonder if this is affecting call ups for Mehrdad Beitashour...?

Weird because Iraq is on that ban list too. Wouldn't wearing the Iraqi jersey alone put him in trouble as well?

Still beyond me why Iran is here. Have we ever even committed a religious terrorist attack before? I can't recall one incident.

Sad that we neglect our country so badly that it is on the same level to be added to a list with those pathetic countries. :[

Are you really that blind? Come on man, you know damn well the kinds of groups and people our government supports.

You do realize that the government does not represent 80 million people... right? He was talking about civilians.

Our government doesn't represent us. A strong portion of Iranian immigrants express their dislike for Islam and the IR or at least dissociate themselves from religion.

Iran is on the banned list because of Israels immense influence in US politics.

Recently, those who have visited Iran faced major trouble before departure/upon landing to USA no matter what country they're from.

there was also some famous French artists who had visited Iran years ago and denied entry to USA. There were various others as well including non-VIPs

That's not even worse than the kind of groups and people that some other governments who are allowed to enter the US, support!

If you believe banning these 6 countries have anything to do with supporting terrorism, you are gravely mistaken!

Funnily enough Afghanistan, Saudi, and Egypt don't make the list even though they have a considerable history of terrorists and rapists within their immigrants
