I've received info that Alireza really wants to establish himself further in Sweden along the wave he's riding now. By far the most positive period for him personally in terms of playing in Europe rn, which is further enhanced by how weak his team really is. It's been a turn around since they changed the coach and started playing Alireza.

"Alireza Haghighi: I'm here to not let AFC Eskilstuna go from Allsvenskan!

Iranian national team goalkeeper remained second in Allsvenskan when they defeated IFK Göteborg at home on Monday.

AFC Eskilstuna's Iranian national team goalkeeper kept second to none for the season when he beat IFK Göteborg with 1-0 at home. Match hero became Chidi Omeje who in the end minutes stood for a technical number when he broke down a post and finished with a volley shot right into the goal. However, visiting IFK Göteborg had a couple of good chances to decide, not least an open goal that Omarsson managed to burn. Haghighi also made a pair of rescues where he showed that he was in the right place and did not fool down on the grass.

Thanks to the profit, AFC has made a living in the bottom line in Allsvenskan. With five rounds left, you have shrunk the margin to the qualifying pitch to only six points. The place in the table has Jönköping Södra at the moment, the team that AFC will meet in the next round. In an interview with AFC Eskilstuna's official channel, Haghighi says he wants more people from Eskilstuna to appear on Saturday before the match and cheer out his team. Following the meeting with J-Södra, Haghighi goes to Russia for national team gathering and training camp before the 10th of October, the World Cup is hosted in Kazan.

Alireza Haghighi set up for telephone interview with Svenskafans.com the day after the win against IFK Göteborg.

You took your second win in a row after a goal in the final minutes. In addition, you held zero for the second time. How was the match?
"It was a good match, I think. It was very important that we naturally won. Each match for us now is like a final. For my part, I do my utmost and try to control the defense as much as possible.

How do you assess the quality of IFK Göteborg?
"IFK Göteborg had some chances, they played well, but we pushed well and we have built up the defense well. We have a newly created team, and they need time to adapt, but we do not have time with now.

You were close to dropping a goal, but Omarsson burned a free kick. The game was otherwise similar to the goals you set in against Örebro where the opponents came in from the edges and fit an unmarked player in the penalty area.

      - Yes, we were lucky he missed. We need to work more to defend and communicate and I try to help my backs as good as possible.

On Saturday there will be a new final match when Jönköping Södra, you are hunting for a qualifying place, visiting Tunavallen.
      - Just like that. If we win, we have given ourselves the opportunity to cut the qualifying pitch. It's a new match and it means new opportunities for us. My goal and focus right now is to help the team in every way I can to stay in Allsvenskan,

After the match you go to Kazan for national team collection. It's not a city for you, but your first professional club in Europe as well. How does it feel like returning there?
      - I'm happy to return, I like Kazan and have good memories from here. It will be fun to meet the others in the national team again.

AFC Eskilstuna meets Jönköping Södra in Allvenskan's 26th round on Saturday 30th September."

hes been starting for 3+ months now

he has around 1100 minutes for AFC.

I hope he continues strong, because he should be able to get into another team even if AFC relegate.

sweden is a good place for him, its a good place to focus.

He actually was number one in Portuguese top division before WC. Not sure playing in bottom table Swedish league team is the most positive period and is not like he was really great or spectacular.

Seems that this guy will be our only hope again just like the last WC. I hope he just gets it together and works on his weaknesses. Everything is better than Beiranvand though.

Yes, but he didn't play as good as he does now individually. Both teams sucked (with the Swedish being worse on paper of course), but he's played really well these past weeks compared to his entire stay in Portugal which was pretty meh to say the least. Here he's contributing in a major way.

                  Tied 1-1 today.

They needed the win as the team they tied is one spot above them.

I watched a bit of the game btw, the goal wasn't Haghighi's fault. You can argue he should've done better (I personally disagree) but it wasn't a bad goal. Just bad marking from his defence.

Alireza Haghigi got into with Ahmad Yasin of Iraq. Yasin went in for a late kick when Haghgi clearly had the ball.

Looks like a pretty rough outing for ARH..! His defense is awful maaast but he probably shoulda beaten the attacker to the ball on the first goal & May be shoulda gotten a hand on the next two attempts that resulted in goals...!?

Proud of Alireza for toughing it out like a man and staying in Europe.

He may show signs of being a soosool but his actions speak louder than his Insta photos. He may not be the best GK in the world but he's definitely a hardworking goalkeeper and that's commendable in my book.
