Lack of friendlies never had anything to do with how strong our team was. It was 95% about our country's political and economical stance. We are not prepared to pay big teams the money to play us like Korea and Japan do and our regime's lack of friendship with the world is the 2nd reason as we are no really a part of world community, lack of infrastructure must also be mentioned.
Before the revolution we had an amateur football team but pretty much every powerful national team and club team had played at least a friendly with our TM and clubs.
