The problem is: if we become second in this group, we cannot qualify anymore. The points we make against Palestine (or any 4th placed team) wont count, so we have 2 points. There are already more teams with 3 points in the table of the second-placed teams than qualification places. So no possibility to qualify through the second place.

We can then only become first in this group when
1. Jordan and Syria tie
2. We win by a 3 goals margin (this is safe) or by a 2 goals margin but then the tie between Jordan and Syria has to be 0-0.

Checked it again, there is definitely no chance to qualify by becoming second. In the table of the second-placed teams we will be 8th or 9th out of 10 and the first 5 qualify.

Sorry, this is wrong on every level. In the groups with 5 teams the games against 4th and 5th placed teams dont count. Or to put it the other way round: only the game towards the 1st & the 3rd counts in EVERY group.

We become second if Palestine or Syria wins. The winner of that game will be first, the loser will be third. We will be second but we will not qualify.

As we are leading 4-0, 90', any tie between the teams will make us 1st, Jordan 2nd, Syria 3rd, Palestine 4th. Only in this case we qualify.
