is this iran golden age of football?

with tm going to world cup back to back, can we say this is the golden age of iranian football, compare to the past, i mean in the 70s we were dominante and won 3 asian cup and in the late 90s early 2000s we had good team , however is this group considered the best ever?

^^ Good question! Feeling / emotions wise i would say the 90S , but their has so much changed in this modern football era that its hard to compare
Iran deserves better, TM deserves better.
    O.G from '97 & still here

90s we had good players, however i think if this team win the 2019 asian cup it can be the greatest....the 70s teams was awsome also

talentwise not at all - our 90's team with azizi, daei, bagheri, mehdi etc was far better. if we talk about tactics (carlos), i would suggest yes. and never forget that luck plays a big factor in football. also our opponents are not as strong as they used to be, look at japan and south korea now and back then.
and as happy i am with all the results but please let us not fool ourselves - we still play boring and lets call it "ugly" football, and that against teams like uzebks, china etc.
still a very long way to go...

Disagree - out 90s team was quite weak defensively, though strong offensively. Azizi and Daei were very strong up front, and Bagheri and Mehdi were very strong in midfield, and Abedzadeh was obviously fantastic, but the rest of the team was not great. Watch Iran v Aus in Melbourne for an example.
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

This is without a doubt the golden generation. Back to back WC qualifications was unheard of in our history until yesterday. No other generation achieved this.

Also, the level of dominance we had this time around is not anything another TM generation could claim. zero goals conceded through 8 games? That is unreal. It becomes even more impressive when you consider the fact that in these 8 games our opposition had maybe a handful of good chances. It is truly remarkable.

Finally, we won a lot of 1-0 games which at first glance doesn't seem like we were overpowering our opponents but in reality in all those 1-0 wins we were dominant and our opposition had no chance.

The golden age of Iran was before we had shitty I.R. on our jersey before IRAN.

In terms of overall squad depth and balance I'd say this is the strongest I've seen (never saw the 70's teams) - Queiroz has done a great job there.

Mid to late 90's team was better going forward, but as mentioned above were awful defensively. It wasn't good for our blood pressure watching that team.

I'd say early to mid 2000's teams had more talent (could have picked from several Asian players of the year) but never quite gelled in the same way and temperament meant the likes of Azizi were not picked and there was in fighting. A couple of key positions (GK, LB) were also our achilles heel. It doesn't feel like that with this squad.

I'd say overall yup, we've had generation with couple of standout players and the rest being the usual average TM player, but now depth wise we are much stronger and the players are still mostly all young. We have couple of European quality players in each position, we couldn't have said that in the past

I would this generation is the most committed out of any. It helps when you have a world class coach running the show and having everything under control and according to plan.
Talent wise, I still think 2006 WC was better but they lacked unity that this current team possesses. Too many egos on that team wanting the "spotlight"

This team is truly united and plays as ONE! I think that all goes back to world class coaching. CQ has put unity into Iranian football DNA and it's spreading over to our youth teams as well.
Kicking Rahmati and Aghili was probably the greatest thing to ever happen to Iranian football. It showed to everyone that if you don't have unity, then you will be tossed and never to come back

I would say golden age in terms of success, the 70ies.
Golden age in terms of individuals, the 70ies and 80ies.
Golden age in terms of international fame, the late 90ies.
                            Golden TEAM, definitely THIS TEAM!

Golden age usually for me I interpret it as the years when the team is most talented. I think this doesn't come close to the talent rich team we had before. However unity wise, and likelihood to succeed this team is very promising.
