Not to be a smart ass, but this is the first time ever we have had legionnaires playing in smaller European leagues (i.e. Sweden and Belgian). We always had legionnaires playing in Arab leagues, which is more comparable to these leagues. These leagues are not really a step up in terms of competition. Like Taremi is a better striker than Rezaei and you can see that based on his talent. Sure it's great having more options for team melli, but being a legionnaire in a smaller league doesn't make you ultimately a better option.

I am talking about level of competition. Arab league has far higher level of players because they have more money to spend on players. That means you face guys who are top level professionals.
        For example I found this:
Knowledge Musona put pen to paper on a two-and-half year contract with Belgian Pro League side KV Oostende that made him the highest-paid football player in the country on $35 000 monthly salary translating to $420 000 a year
        https://www.facebook.com/34277877574...491446/?type=3
This guy was the highest paid player in the league and gets $420,000 a year. That means Rezaei gets closer to $150,000 - 200,000 max. That is the level of competition he is playing against. It's similar to Beitashour. Plays in a lower level league that doesn't attract much competition. Ghoddos has the same problem.

I don't see either of these guys getting much playing time in the world cup, because they aren't high enough level. Like as a right back Beitashour is way too slow and Ghoddos is way too slow as an attacking left mid option. But in his team he is actually considered fast. Go look at Ghoddos game against Togo. The guy made two runs thinking he could get past the Togo defense and he was too slow. This is the player whose major strength is speed getting outrun by a Togo player. Put him up against any mid to top level country and he will get destroyed.

Yes ghoddos looked so destroyed when he was man of the match vs galatasaray , PAOK , and hertha Berlin .

You can't take it seriously when one says the Belgian league is on par with Qatar Stars League.

Something very important you forget is these Arab and Chinese clubs have 1-2-3 players who are supposedly the stars and in international level while a league like Belgian doesn't probably have a superstar but each team is full of players in international level calibers, the pay rate in Europe doesn't justify the quality of players, we are not talking about MLS dude!

Well let' slook at Ostersunds FK. How many players there are international level caliber players?

Aly Keita - G - never played for Sweden
Tom Pettersson - D - Only played U17, U21. He is 27 years old. Never played for Sweden national team
Sotirios Papagiannopoulos - D - Never played for Sweden
Doug Bergqvist - Never played for Sweden
Jamie Ryan Hopcutt - Never played for England
Alhaji Gero - Never played for Nigeria
Johan Bertilsson - Never played for Sweden
Ken Sema - 1 game for Sweden
Bobo Karl Nils Sollander Jansson - Never played for Sweden
Curtis Edwards - Never played for England
Andreas Andersson - Never played for Sweden
Dennis Widgren - Never played for Sweden
Gabriel Somi - Never played for Syria
Fouad Bachirou - Played 8 games for Comoros???
Brwa Nouri - 5 game for Iraq
Samuel Mensiro - Never played for Ghana
Ronald Mukiibi - Called up to Uganda, but never went
Patrick Kpozo - Never played for Ghana. Under 20 he has
Emil Hedvall - Never played for Sweden
Frank Arhin - Never played for Ghana

Out of 20 players they have a total combined of 14 games played at National level * 8 of which are for Comoros.
The reality is none of these players are good enough to make Sweden, Ghana, England or Syria. But okay please tell me the 1-3 players that are superstars on his team, because I don't see any.

And how many players of Qatar FC(as example) have international level experience? You miss a big point, Saman's club may not have many international caliber players but his team play against some quite good Swedish teams in Malmo, Gothenburg, Hammarby, etc.

PLUS Ghoddos proved he can keep it up against like Gala and Berlin.

I am not very impressed by our players playing in league such as Sweden, Croatia, etc but i take it over Arab Leagues anytime.

My point wasn't which leagues are better. My point was that just because you play in Belgian or Sweden it doesn't mean you deserve playing time on Team melli. This was the comment I initially replied to: I would never have believed the day would come that we would discuss which of our legionaires we should take to team melli
Out of all of the options we have at midfield and strikers I would say we have better options:
                      Strikers;
                      Azmoun
                      Ansarifard
                      Taremi
                      Gucci
                      Rezaei
                      Left Midfielders
                      Dejagah
                      Shojaei
                      Amiri/ Ghoddos

I don't see the point of giving playing time to a 5th striker or a third left midfielder. It reminds of how we took Beitashour to the worldcups, but he was useless.

                      Comment

I kinda agree with pdot, a player who automatically plays in Europe should not be chosen over a player who plays in Asia. We must look at the quality that a player brings. For example we can savely say that Taremi is a better and more allround forward than Gucci. rafieie should be a serious option/tested for the CAM position. Ansarifard can also create and play as LW so he is more versatile than Gucci for example who can only use his quality as a striker.

Basically i would call up Azmoun and Gucci as back up for the striker position.
For LW i would call up Taremi and Ansarifard
For RW i would call up Jahanbakhsh and Torabi
And for CAM i would call up Shojaei and Ghoddos/Dejagah
There should be a back up for every position, and the players best for that position should be in the list.

                          Kaveh Rezaei @ Charleroi SC | 2017-18

I wouldn't take Kaveh because he hasn't played the WCQ to get to know his teammates, gel in the team etc.

Harsh? No. If he wanted to play in the WC, he shouldn't have waited so long to get himself playing in Europe. He should have left years ago, and leaving him out of the squad will still be largely his fault.

                          Comment

He has done well so far for Charleroi SC. However he needs to continue the trend if he wants a consistent invitation for Team Melli.

If he remains dedicated and puts in the hard work then I strongly believe good things will follow for him. It's pretty obvious he has his eyes set on the World Cup.

I get where you're coming from littlepersia17 regarding Kaveh not being there on the road to the Russia 2018. I agree that he should have left to Europe years ago. But sometimes the paths of these Iranian players aren't perfect. Actually I'll re-phrase that lol. Most of the time our footballers choose to stay in Iran over going abroad.

Carlos has left the door open to any Iranian who's willing to fight for Team Melli. Although Kaveh may not have helped us get to where we are, he is still eligible in my book to be in Russia, IF, he is deserving of the spot. Of course it will be odd to leave prodigy Sardar and take Kaveh instead. But anything can happen in football, and God forbid Azmoun gets seriously injured and can't go (I can't even think about that..). Or Taremi gets hurt.

What I'm trying to say is that our player's performances in their club, in Team Melli training/friendly matches + big decisions by Carlos and his staff will ultimately be the deciding factor whether who will go to Russia.
