The Argentina game was ONE game only. If we play Argentina 10 times, more than likely we will lose all 10 times. We tend to struggle at times against Arab teams such as Qatar, Iraq, etc and you think we can beat the likes of Germany or Argentina or France. I will surely say that CQ has elevated TM to a level where we can compete with the likes of Sweden, Holland, Croatia, and the mid tier European and perhaps even compete with the likes of England but nowhere can they beat the likes of the top powerhouses. I need to see consistent results at the WC and in good friendlies before we can ever judge that. Never base it off that ONE Argentina game

and this team Melli is a lot stronger than 2014 WC team Melli, A LOT STRONGER.

Off course we can beat them they were struggeling even against new zeland. They beat Russia 1-0 just like we did and against Portugal they were dominated whole match and tied at last minute bare in mind this Portugal is much weaker than 2006 and their euro win was a fluke I go even one better and say not only we can beat Mexico but also portugal , they have both lost against teams much weaker than Iran.

We have never won over Mexico and I believe that if our current team had to play El Tri today would tie the match at best. Not every team are capable of defeating Mexico easily. In the past World Cups, Confederations Cup or Copa America many teams who won the result was 1-0 or 2-1, teams like Germany, Portugal, Italy are example of this. You just opened my old wound! I was there in Nuremberg and for the first half we thought we were going to beat them then. Then the wheels came off. The German sussages and buckets of Pilsen to wash them down helped close the wound a little.

I think the answer to your question is that with CQ we can give anybody except lukes os Brazil or Germany/France a good game but overall let's face it we are not world top ten.

I felt as if then especially our style and tactics ( or lack thereof) could not contain a Mexico team who always play with a lot of energy, and make life difficult for the opposition by getting about in their faces for 90 mins. Now I think our style would really frustrate the mexicans, and our quality with TAJ upfront ( taremi , Azmoun , Jahanbakhsh) would give them real problems especially considering their defense is pretty shitty. I think that if we kept our cool, stuck to CQ's game plan, we would have a very good chance of beating with them. Although the game would be quite tight still.

I was saying the same thing back in 2006. I love TM with a passion and expect to win most games, but we need to be reasonable at times
