Hajsafi isnt a standout in any position but hes good enough to play in the midfield or on the wings, has decent distribution and has enough technique to aid in attack

His biggest problem is his football IQ IMO

Yeah. He just really lacks vision to be a better player. But due to his workhorse physique and mentality, good shooting technique, decent crossing, and willingness ( not necessarily great ability) to defend, he will be an important part of our midfield for the WC, and probably asian cup as well seeing as their are no real CM's breaking through except possibly shekari and noorafkan, although both are definitely inferior to hajsafi now.

I’m honestly counting on quieroz to get karimi into top shape,

Karimi is much better on defense and much better with distribution than hajsafi.

I guess we’ll have to see how our players perform against solid teams if we play any for friendlies.

Turkey and Algeria would be great friendlies.

Zlatco Kranchar who is his coach of Sepahan and the reason Karimi even went to Dinamo in the first place said in an interview 2 months ago that he is personally preparing Ali Karimi's fitness and physique for the WC.

really ? Didnt hear this. Great news if true. But he also had fitness issues at Dinamo, does anybody know what is it with this guy and fitness ? He is a tall, very physically imposing, strong player. Not sure why there is so much fuss about his fitness

The same issue every player in IPL has, not at the level needed for 90 minutes of play.

I’m sure CQ will beat the hell out of all the IPL players to make them ready.

good point. Im sure Krancjar will have him ready. I think that is one of the reason he commits so many fouls, he lacks the stamina to get back goal side and slow the play down. The good thing is PP players are ready bc of many years of Branko, the SS players (Vouria, Cheshmi) will be prepared with Schafer, and the Sepahan players will be ready from Kranjcar ( although I think that will be just Karimi) . Besides this we only have torabi from saipa and that is pretty much it for domestic guys, which means fitness wont be as much of an issue as the past, as these guys are damn fit, plus obviously the legionairres will be at the required levels. PP players in particular are in really damn good shape as evidenced by their ACL battles. Overall CQ will not have to worry about this aspect as much ( if at all ) , especially in comparision to 2014 when almost the entire team was domestic.

personally, take a fit Omid ebrahimi over him any day..!! He moves brilliantly without the ball and provides easy passing outlets all over the MF which could greatly help improve our currently lackluster possession in the MF, his composure and short passing is pretty decent and his touch and accuracy on long passes is exceptional and also has a pretty heavy foot for outside shots..! nonetheless, he is not the fastest of MFdrs, a bit undersized and easily bullied by big physical opponents..!
AK Jr. sure has the size and frame and certainly Looks the part as Saied's DM partner, but for all his size o heykal, kheyli maaste defensively and cant tackle for shitt either ..! his vision is decent, makes intelligent movements with or w/o the ball, short passing, calm and composure is exceptional, but he seems sluggish, and way too shol-o-vel defensively ..!! He is perhaps the best candidate to dress up for the part??? as he has the difficult to attain qualities already and he just needs to vastly improve his fitness, form, speed and especially defensive grit n aggressiveness..! lets hope Zlatco's training regime does him some good....but im sure that CQ/Oceano combo can really whip him in shape in those weeks long WC Training camps we are sure to have again in the run up to WC..!?

i also wonder if CQ could adapt one of our more stout and capable attacking winger/midfielder which we actually have too many of into a more CM/DM Role..?? someone like Taremi could be ideal candidate..!!? K. Rezaei..!! possibly Amiri..!!? maybe even Ghodoos ?

agree fully to the BOLD, his football Football IQ aint all that bad, but his Composure is severely lacking & he sure has frequent mental lapses on the pitch and this nasty habit of not taking his defensive responsibilities seriously or a knack for attempting a very retardedly risky forward move/pass that has a high potential to bite us badly in the ass..!!
he seems to be a consummate professional in training and those who have met him, love the guy and describe him as top lad and he must be doing a lot of things right in the training to be getting the captain armband from CQ occasionally as well.!!

People keep saying Ebrahimi gets “bullied” against more physical players, but for his size he is actually a pretty strong player and quite the opposite he stands his ground pretty well vs bigger players, similar to someone like Gary Medel.

Do you have any particular examples of him getting “outmuscled”? I find him to be for instance a stronger player physically than guys like Azmoun or Gucci

tbh not really ... just figured because of his diminutive stature he'd be likely to get bullied at WC levels by big, physical opponents..!!

That's the reason they ended the contract with Karimi at Dinamo, they said his fitness wasn't up to par with the Dinamo Zagrebs standards. Which is kinda funny because it shows how weak players actually are in IPL. One of the best young dm's in IPL wasn't physically prepared to play in Croatian league even though he practiced with them for a long time too. The fuss is all because Iranian players generally prioritize technique over tactics and physique. That's how a lot of players are in Iran. Jabbari, Navidkia, The original Karimi are all examples. I heard in an interview with Esteghlal fitness coach a few years back that Jabari doesn't even show up to the gym fitness and bodybuilding sessions. When you have role models like that in the league, this is the most you can excpect.

Just watch the Guam game, even though we dominated - he was late in tackles, was getting hustled out and was poor on the ball. Seriously he was flattered.

AEK coach's comments on wanting Shojaie. Also noted that apparently, Osasuna is interested as well:

"Masud is in a prominent position on AEK's transcriptional agenda, as his addition to the roster is a personal wish of Manollo Jimenez. The Spanish technician estimates that the 33-year-old may be the ideal replacement for Peter Mantalus's position, giving solutions to the Union with his quality and experience.

Meanwhile, Hamedeth also supports Masud's choice and the fact that the Iranian ace will not need any adjustment time. Since his presence in the Greek league with Panionios will allow him to join immediately and more smoothly throughout the Union.

The issue of his acquisition by AEK is expected to enter the final straight in the coming days, although for Masoud there is interest from both Panathinaikos and Osasuna.""

To be honest, it'd be pretty awesome to see him reunited with the Flano brothers.
